Those are some nice numbers on a stock ECU. Cant wait to see the end result.
Sounds good man
Lookin good jakey-pooh. Good progress and now you have a baseline. Respectable but there’s more power to be had with a b18c. Drop those cams in and miscellaneous crap in there and have dude tune your Hondata. You should see high 180’s easily.
Btw, you need better headers! Your headers are so thin-walled that it turned cherry red on your last 3rd gear pull on the dyno. And that’s only one gear on redline. Just imagine redlining 1st through 4th gears…yikes.
Yeah, a better header is almost guaranteed, at this point. The Toda (or suitable replica) will likely be going in.
Chris Miller, the guy doing the tune, said that with the stuff I intend to do, he can easily get another 30-40 out of the parts, plus a few hours with a tune. He said he was very comfortable with these numbers, and that the motor seemed very healthy. He’s confident that he can get it in the high 180’s with little trouble. 190’s he’s 80% positive he can pull off.
I’m going to have a small bottleneck in the exhaust taken care of, soon. Right after the high flow cat, the shop that did my exhaust put a flange on and basically used the “extension piece” that came with the SP2, and ran a smaller diameter pipe for about 6". I’m going to have that taken out, and a section of 2.5" exhaust welded in it’s place to get rid of that section (which has a 2" diameter) that way it goes from the header, to a 2.5" collector, through a 2.5" high flow cat, and gradually goes into the 2 3/8" SP2 system, for a much smoother flow. Hoping to see that open up the breathing and pull a horse or two into the top end.
Can’t wait.
and thanks, Matt. I appreciate it.
Hows it going man, glad to see that your car is coming along so nicely. I wish I can say the same about myself but I can’t. And on what you said about the p72 (GSR) having more compression than the p73 head (type R) is very much true. Most people think just think that because they have a type r motor it has more conpression than any other b-series motor. Well it may be true that a b18c5 has more compession than a b18c1 but if you were to pull both heads off then you got two different combustion chambers. The gsr has a smaller combustion chamber than the type r one has, while it may be smaller but in no way worst off. You see the smaller the combustion chamber is, the more compression you’ll have. That is why it’s pistons are flat (cast) dome to prevent piston to valve contact. Ans the type r’s head has a bigger combustion chamber due to a light porting from the factory thus allowing the ability to use higher compression pistons compared to the flat ones on the gsr. I’m glad you know your shit also cause it does help down the road and that’s why I said what I did to those who didn’t know or understand what you were saying.
Here are some pics from yesterday. Courtesy of the guys at CNC Engine Dynamics. I love these pics:
good stuff man glad everything is working out!
Such a clean car and yet such a dirty engine bay… Those are pretty decent base number, good luck on getting into that 190 mark
Thanks. It’s a clean bay. It’s just not tucked, yet. Give it time
graph from the session. forgot to post it.
yes ! i been contemplating on getting those hic visors looks good with the car and with a better itm, throttle body and those itrs/ctr cams& valve train get great improvement…
Yeah, I still can’t get over how much of an improvement these visors made. Every time I walk by it, I just love what I see.

Sounds nice!!! Can’t see what happens when you build it up.

Love the sound of the car man…A way to pull better numbers, is doing a secondary delete. All them secondary’s do is restrict the flow of air till they open, so i tuned my ECU to keep the open at all time, car is “MUCH” faster at takeoff. I’m also running a type r map, so being you’re swapping the cams with “R” ones, that map would be a great setup…Keep up the great work.
Sick vids. I love the heat of the headers turning purple haha. Glad to see her up an running.
someone decided they wanted to be a cool guy and smash my fucking fender in. Pissed off isn’t quite the words to describe how I feel about it…
Wtf. That sucks, I’m actually pissed of for you
