imcnblu's build thread (2012 UPDATES page 26)

Thats fucked up! You sure no one hit you? Kinda looks like a foot print.

Sorry man, shit like this is the very reason I care less about the way my car looks like on the outside. its hard to beat up a Beater

brand new fender ordered. $105. damn annoyed that I had to even do this in the first place. at least it’s only a $100 fix. paint will be done with the rest of the body work after I get the build tuned. at least the issue is getting fixed. about to go pull my ECU to send it off to xenocron…

damn it…

Went to order the s300 from xenocron. Out of stock. FML. The s300j is out of stock for a few weeks, and their expected in stock date is the exact same week I’m doing my build. i was hoping to have it installed and in the car BEFORE I started the build, as I’m going to be on an extremely tight time frame. SHIT!!!

ninja edit

anyone selling an OBD1 VTEC ECU with hondata s300 already installed?
http://forums.g2ic.com/showthread.php?212200-VA-looking-for-an-OBD1-ECU-with-hondata-s300-(ALREADY-INSTALLED)

fuck it. ordered a brand new s300 and an entire OBD1 VTEC ECU from xenocron. didn’t like the idea of getting a used unit, anyway…

$655 on OBD1 VTEC ECU with Hondata s300 installed. should have it next week.

Fender will be here TOMORROW!!

That sucks man. : ( Where’d that happen at?

It happened right in front of my house. :frowning:
My fender came in yesterday, been working on the side marker hole. Almost
got it finished.
My glorious hondata s300 (version 2) equipped ECU came in today. Can’t wait til I can play with that.
Pics coming soon. Currently posting from my phone, lol.

Sorry to hear about your fender being smashed like that, if you ever find out the person who did it let me know cause if I’m ever in that town i’ll smash his head like the fender too for you just because I’ can’t stand haters and people who do that kind of shit and walk away like nothing ever happened. But at least you’ll get your car done soon it look’s like so that’s something to be happy about. It’s coming along nicely so in the end it will be all worth it for you.

have fun with that S300 buddy

updates:
a couple days ago, I replaced the fender:

gonna be rocking the black fender for a couple more weeks. after the build and tune, the car is going in for a nice new coat of paint. there are a few minor areas of concern that need to be addressed, so instead of painting patches, and panels, it would make more sense to just do the whole car. I’ve got a hookup, so I don’t mind
This beauty is now the “brains” of my swap, now.

received this from Xenocron last weekend. I painted the cover and put on one of the supplied hondata stickers, just because it’s a G thing to do :giggle:
the guts:
Hondata s300 version 2 (only been out a couple of months. mr. blu LOVES NEW stuff)

also, here’s a new video I did yesterday. I installed my Hondata s300 the other day. I put a stock JDM P72 map on it (which is the factory ECU for my swap) but, since the IABs are disabled, and only running on the “high rpm runners”, I changed the VTEC engagement point to a more conventional point in the RPM range. Most people who have GS-R swaps, know that STOCK configuration is as follows:
VTEC: 4400rpm (roughly)
IAB: 5700rpm

since my motor isn’t using the IABs anymore (solenoid is bad, and I’m not bothered, in 2 weeks, it’ll be replaced with a first gen Skunk2 intake manifold) I raised the VTEC engagement point to 5700rpm, so it acts a bit more like a conventional VTEC motor without an IAB equipped intake manifold.

here is the result. sorry for the wind noise. my phone picks up wind noise a little too much.

thanks for looking.

I still think you should leave that fender like it is.

So, I’m SERIOUSLY considering redoing my wheels this year. I was going to buy some new rims, but other things came up and it is no longer an option. I am HEAVILY considering powdercoating them bronze with no blue lip. I’m hoping someone can do a photoshop for me, as I have no idea how to use photoshop, lol. Using either of these pics, could someone shop them bronze?

the shade of bronze I’m going for is going to be very similar to the bronze on these wheels:

maybe just a few shades lighter.

Thanks, guys.

stick with a light shade of bronze and I think that would look great man.

I believe I have decided on a shade for the wheels. It is a color just a few shades darker than the gold found on most WRX STIs.

btw, anyone on this side of the country, go check this out if you haven’t heard about it…

 ECHM 2012!!

So, I’m starting my head build next weekend, so I went in to Autozone to order all the various gaskets, etc. The intake manifold gasket lines up perfect, and should do the job. Problem is, though, that the throttle body gasket they gave me wasn’t even close to fitting correctly.

On the packaging, it said

“1992-1993 2.3 Honda (H23A)”

However, my car is obviously not rocking an H series motor. I have a JDM B18C, non Type-R (so, “JDM GS-R”). I’m swapping on a first gen Skunk2 Intake manifold, and when I test fitted the gasket, the size was WAY off. there were open parts of the gasket that stuck out by almost an inch, and some of the provisions in the gasket for the coolant, etc. were way off, some of the provisions even stuck out beyond the casting of the manifold.

I don’t have any pics of the terrible fitment, as I’ve already returned the gasket, but is there something I’m missing, here? I thought that most of the B and H series TBs were interchangeable for the most part, anyway.

Ideas/suggestions? I need info by this weekend.

ordered these tonight

Caugh OEM Caugh :naughty: Email me. phone craped out on me today

gasket issue resolved
my computer took a dump on me the other day, so i have rare access to internet. been posting most stuff from my phone. I’ll email you when i can

mishimoto fan shipped today. mount kit should be shipping any time. fan estimated delivery is Monday. Replacing fan switch, thermostat, and fan relay as well. There should be no reason for my fan to not work anymore. Most of the stuff isn’t in NEED of replacing, but I figured “why not?” I have the extra cash, and I might as well replace all major components in the cooling system.
