nice jake, I thought you forgot about it for a minute there:giggle:
Word up.
Kyle! what’s happening man? how have you been?
Less talk, more Blu resto
Haha, can’t wait to see the outcome man! I know you’ve been scheming for a while
jake the snake, let’s see what you got goin???
i love me some good build threads…shit better be impressive. don’t cut no corners. you know how we do it.
i wish i documented my whole term building my DA with pics. i never was too handy with a camera so i never had a camera around. unfortunately i only have snippets of pics through the time i got her.
time to bust some knuckles…can’t wait to see what you’re doin!!! keep your thread updated with pics.
DAve
sounds good man can’t wait to see it. shit i always forget to take pics when i work on my car.
DAve! damn, been a while. you know how I do. I’m the resident pic whore of the site. of course there will be pics
i was gonna do a CF hatch, but i found a hell of a deal on a GSR hatch and rear window (gonna remove/shave spoiler) so if anyone wants a GSR spoiler, keep an eye on the classifieds here and H-T.
yeah, cabron fibre is played out. to me, it’s the jdm-rice trend that’s been sweeping the nation the past 3 years. stick with a color matched db2 hatch, it looks better.
yeah. still keeping my carbon hood, though. however, i will admit, i’ve considered color matching it. we’ll see how i’m feeling about it when the time comes to start laying the paint again.
eh, i’ve grown tired of the carbon/boy-racer look.
that shit doesn’t impress me no more unless it’s dry carbon…and even dry carbon is ugly, but it’s more funtional.
in california, i don’t want that attention rolling on the streets with a cabron fibre/black hood from the cops. my car’s too illegal to get popped.
i still have a carbon hood but will only use it now when it’s time to lose some weight…when and if i have the time to hit the tracks.
paint your carbon hood jake!!! just make sure it’s smooth and perfectly plained surface before laying down paint. no ripples.
damn dude I am just now seeing this! that sucks but the rebuild should be nice, sorry about that, but what can you do huh? mother nature has a weird way of doing things!
should be getting the new C-pillar within the next week or so. i MIIIIIIIIGHT be having a custom 4-point cage put in when I have the c-pillar welded in. A friend of mine does cages, and they’ve all passed tech inspections at various events around Northern VA and West VA.
i cant wait to see some life breathed back into this thing! I agree with dave, paint the hood. I also think the gsr hatch would look much cleaner. cf hatches never sit right on a DA. What are the motor plans?
motor plans haven’t changed. its just that the built motor won’t be in for a while, yet. i’ve decided to get rid of the b20 block i picked up, and just bore the LS to 84mm. I’ll have a 2.0L LS/VTEC when its all done.
The LS will be pulled out, cleaned up, and will be painting the block/head/transmission. I’ve already removed PS and AC. I just need to loop the lines on the rack to finish that up. The engine bay will be receiving a moderate tuck/shave with nice, fresh paint like the rest of the car.
I’m also looking for a set of JDM side-markers to put on as well. if anyone has any they’re getting rid of, let me know and i’ll take them now.
thats what i wanted to do with my old car. I wanted to go 2.0 with the ls/vtec setup but things change. I like keeping the ls bottom end.
SOOOOO…
I’m aiming to start wrenching next week. I’m pulling the car from storage to pull the motor, perform a mild wire tuck. nothing extreme, just getting rid of what’s not being used anymore, and hiding most of the stuff that is being used (headlight harnesses, etc.)
gonna order some JDM Stanley side-markers, and then go to town on the fenders with the dremel while I’m doing the wire tuck.
I’m also gonna be doing a conservative shave of the engine bay as well.
I figure, if I’m going to go through the hassle of painting the engine bay along with the rest of the car, then I might as well do what I WANT to do, now, while I can.
Gonna clean the shit out of the engine (not TOO bad as it is, I just want it nicer to match the soon to be spotless engine bay).
Gonna get a new radiator/hoses, etc. as well. mainly because I’m replacing the fans (noisy, and one has a badly cracked blade on it)
After I get done playing in the engine bay and get it looking sexy. I’ll be putting the car on the trailer to take it to the shop that’s gonna weld in my new c-pillar.
Picking up a GSR Hatch with window (INCLUDES SPOILER) for 100 locally. gonna shave the spoiler and then paint the hatch to match my car (GS-R hatch is Aztec) anyone want a GS-R spoiler with WORKING brake-light? As soon as it comes off, its for sale.
Also probably picking up a set of Hasport mounts with cable-to-hydro conversion bracket so I can run with a DC GS-R trans (don’t have yet, but have a friend that owes me a solid. Time to pay up, Ricky!!!)
Werd. You thought about just using a YS1 case instead?
i second using the YS1 case with the gsr internals. those hydro conversions are never reliable and feel weird.
I would like to see this when its done.
meh, i don’t know. I’m not the greatest at swapping gears etc. from case to case, and would rather keep it simple. i don’t mind the cable-to-hyrdo deal. I’ve driven a few cars with that setup, seemed okay to me. was definitely different, but nothing that I wouldn’t be fully used to within a few days or so of regular driving.
Thanks Dan. good to hear from you again. I haven’t heard from you in a while. What’s been happening on your end?
