In need of advice on downpipe size

I have the blox turbo manifold, and I’m trying to decide whether to go with the 2.5" or 3.0" downpipe from spoolin performance.

My exhaust is 2.5", and I know I would be better served to have a 3" exhaust for F/I; however, will there be any difference in power or spool time with a 2.5" or 3" downpipe when the rest of the exhaust is 2.5 inches?

2.5 you won’t need a traction bar. It’s also never a good idea to bottle neck the exhaust.

And it’s cheaper, but the 3" would allow me to upgrade the cat-back in the future. Argh.

good question im also wondering this as i dont really want to replace the whole exhaust system right now…i think im going to put a cut out in tho

if you want to upgrade the rest of the exhaust line later on get a 3". if you dont, id still get a 3". but how much power do you plan on making?

My goal is to get into the neighborhood of 250hp with less than 10psi.

At this point I’m really interested in knowing if the 3" DP will yield greater power than the 2.5" when connected to 2.5" cat-back exhaust as I do want to upgrade, but it’s one of the last things on my to-do list due to funds.

Just get a 3inch downpipe as well as a 3 inch exhaust. Will save you in the long run if you plan to make more power down the line.

for 250hp you’d be ok with a 2.5" downpipe. however you want to upgrade, so go ahead and get the 3" right away. if it’ll give you more power or not depends on the setup and turbo especially. i personally wouldn’t waste my time with the 2.5’’ downpipe if your going to upgrade later on.

Thanks for the perspective all. I’ll make a build thread later on down the road.
