well i was searching around for a good sized turbo for a fairly stock ls and i came up with the .42/.48. so im thinking sweet:ohyeah: , found the one i want, when i stumbed accross a thread here saying that that turbo dies out around 6k. usually would be ok but i am hoping to run around a 7k redline with a crower valvetrain and i need a turbo that can do that while keeping a good boost response. what do you guys thnik i should do…? all opinions welcome.
I’m not exactly getting what you are asking.
In my opinion, you should search for a turbocharger that meet your goals.

what psi?
A good one is the T3/T04E from Garrett.
How can you suggest a “good” one when we don’t even know his goals?

Agreed, its an all around good turbo (not too expensive, quick spool, and a good powerband)
sorry for not giving up some more details guys.
stock ls
crower 402-t cams
turboedit
9-12 psi
looking to make around 220-260 hp
with fast spool up(say 3k range) and able to stay up to 7k without pettering out. does this sound ok? or do i need to rethink what i want?
what size T3/T04E is good (A/R & trim) for a mostly stock LS like the OP is asking? I am looking for a turbo for a similar setup. thanks!
They come in a few trim offerings;
Compressor wheel (cold side)-
It’s a T04E
46 Trim
50 Trim
57 Trim
60 Trim
60-1 Trim
Turbine housing (hot side)-
It’s a T3
.48 A/R
.63 A/R
.82 A/R
The particular size I am runing is a 60 trim on the cold side, and a .48 A/R on the hot side. It’s basically their biggest compressor wheel mated with their smallest exhaust turbine.
…and what the hell is up with this smiley? :horny: …wierd
^ a 60/48 is a t3.
When do u want to engage in full boost, then work from there.
id say u will want something that engages later, such as a 60/63, I had a 42/48 and the gas milage sucks. That is why i dropped turbo.
Id say go for a used Turbonectics or garrett 60 trim, make sure it is t3/t4.

When I bought it I called Garrett and asked them about the turbo, among other things, they (Garrett) said it’s their T3/T04E turbo line. So it’s not a T3, it’s a T3/T04E
do u have a pic of it?
does it have a one peice compressor housing? (like where u put on the filter)
i didnt think they make a 48/60 t3/t4, i just thought it was the t3 and the super 60
what are you waiting for? just go 60-1 and call it a day. :giggle:
