Is half size radiator good for interstate driving?

Yo, I am leaning towards being convinced about going turbo on my 91, but I am sort of displeased about the idea of having a halfsized radiator. This is mainly because I travel either by highway or by interstate. I have the option of a 55mph highway. I drive 75 miles (roughly) a day.

I think that I should stick with allmotor instead, unless someone could give me some sort of enlightenment about turbochargers. And what’s this rumor about having the proper radiator so that the water in the cooling system won’t instantly start boiling and burn up your motor? Doesn’t make sense to me!

you’ll have plenty of air flow on the highway, you’ll be fine with a half sized rad. get a really high flowing fan though, it won’t even turn on when your on the highway but if if your sitting for a long period of time your going to need it.

I agree. I put mine in last weekend and the fan hasnt kicked on yet. Im running stock fan.

been running a half-sized rad with the stock fan, for about 2yrs now on my 90’ integra, it has 388KK on it
havent had a single problem with overheating since, its an old motor, so if that rad was insufficient i dont think it would have last these last 2yrs, knocks on wood

Bulletman, did that radiator come out of a civic or is it aftermarkety???

driving highway you have nothing to worry about… you most likely wont be in boost at all… and as long as ur moving, you get cool air… its when you get stuck in traffic for hours is when you have problems cuz you dont have that air passing through the radiator

from my experiance i would go with a 12 inch( or bigger if possible) push fan on ur half rad and would get a good one with metal endtanks like a koyo

How about a Half Radiator with A/C, Boosting and in South Florida Hot Humid Weather?

integrawow, its from a civic, works pretty good so far, last time at the track i ran it pretty hard(15times in total) one after the other and the needle didnt raise up at all, best of night 15.1 whooo

doubt it would work for a boosted tho, you would need the thick half size rad with the FAL fan for it to work like its supposed to

i have a 10" slim fan on my fluidine as a puller & it works fine. daily driver & drove out to so-cal (400’ish miles) & back, no problems…

as long as your fluids(coolant with the right mix)/sensors/thermostat/relays/wiring are all in good working condition still, dont have anything wired up wrong, you should be fine with a halfsized radiator with an oem fan…

i had a genaric ek half rad with 10" pull fan ram horn manifold and its fine on the highway but when i go up long hills and mountainous area with a lot of stop and go i over heat a bit till i turn the heat on full blast

wasnt turbo on the trip…

i think your okay with a half sized radiator being turbo’d as long as it’s at least the dual cored radiator…
