your steering wheel and car will not shake like boobies at hooters. Just curious…sometimes it bothers me to have my car vibrate when I’m at the light.
I will let you know cause I will be replacing one of my mounts tonight.
I shouldn’t make such a difference though i think if your mount is still in good condition. Mine’s already broken that’s why it vibrates. Just before it went out, it didn’t vibrate as much or not at all.
my engine lower mount is also broken, keep me posted on the results… I’m curious…
PS. Are you doing the job yourself?
Actually another member might help me out. I think I can do it myself but it’s always good to have someone help you. Am thinking or replacing most of the mounts too when i have time and money hehe.
You’re lucky, the engine mount you broke is not as expensive as the one i broke… driver side mount.
I thought aftermarket engine mounts would cause more vibrations because they are stiffer? Or is that just while you’re driving? I dunno.
how do you change the MM closest to the fire wall?

I dunno if this is a Q for me but i’ll be replacing mine with an OEM one. Oh and did i say it was expensive?
How expensive???
Anyhow, the driver side EM is THE MOST expensive of them all. But it is not good to run on bad mounts in our cars, the space in the engine is ristricted and it will put a lot of stress on the tranny…
Been there, done that
I replaced my motor mounts about 6 months ago. It really was expensive, I think just under $300 for all four mounts. The two side cost the same, the front is way cheap, and the back is WAY expensive. Shop charged another $100-200 to install. The 3 big ones were torn, and decided to go ahead and replace the front too. How do you know? Shakes like sh** when you’re at idle. Started to like the massaging affect, but it does start to stress and neg affect other parts. Someone might want to check out mm supports that Energy Suspension makes. Supposed to reinforce the mm’s for those monster motors, but they also said they could be used to repair torn mounts? Dunno… read about them after replacing mine with oem.

The driver side mount is 191 out the door from the dealer. I probably should have shopped around but i was in a hurry. And now am having a hard time removing the old mount. I hope i can do this before monday.
All my mounts were torn as well. I just bought the eurathane mount kit from Prothane and popped them in. Let me tell you, that kit is STIFF! The car vibrates so bad that you can see the hood jumping up and down. They work great, but if your into the whole “comfort” thing I wouldnt recommend them. My friend has the Energy Suspension kit in his G3 and its no where near as bad as my Prothane ones, so their’s might not be that bad for the G2 either. HTH

Had the Energy Susp. motor mount bushings on my EF hatch. They vibrated for about a month then they loosened up. My car stopped having that rubber-band feel from shifting, a Honda thing, when the bushings were put in.
I replaced all four mounts about a year ago.
YES!!! The shaking will go away. The car will be as smooth as a new car!!! (I kept thinking it had stalled whenever I got to a traffic light)
The cost for all four stock mounts is around $300. Expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.
If you use the energy suspension mounts that are much stiffer, the car WILL shake… ALOT!!!
The rear mount is a B!TCH!!! I had to undo the tranny mount and front mount, then use a jack to support the engine, and another jack to push the engine forward, and undo the bolts for the bracket where the mount is located to remove the whole assembly from under the car. Took me about 2 hours just to do that ONE mount!

Would i need to use an impact gun/tool or would a breaker bar do? Am only replacing the driver side mount.
It’s not that the bolts are hard, it’s just that they are hard to get to!!! regular tools should work. you will need a ling extension for some of the bolts though.
You need small hands, Hard Skin, and lots of patience!!!
I don’t get it… what’s the final decision… shall I get Energy mounts or shall get original Honda mounts???
I do mind vibration, but if it goes away, I’m willing to live with it. Does the energy bushing vibration go away?
would it have the same effect if i just put in some motor mount inserts? would’nt that make the connection from the engine to the chaises more stiffer so causing less vibration? i’m really hating the vibration. i can live with it but much prefer they are no there. The moter mount inserts said that they elimnate the need for new mounts… they only cost what 39.95? i’m sure i can get a shop to do it for me pretty easily… let me know guys
Replace the Front and Back engine mounts with energy suspension inserts. They will fix your problem.
And try do to it yourself , its easy. Get a jack and go at it. You’ll learn more about your G2 that way. Just make sure the engine mounts are your problem and not a blown axle. Find out by getting a big long screwdriver with a jack under the engine a prying at the engine mounts. If you see cracks thats oK, but if you see rips thats a different story and calls for replacement of the engine mounts but with only ES inserts.
doe anyone know a link to get some energy suspension mounts? i tried ot find some but all i saw was mostly poly stuff
would’nt that make the connection from the engine to the chaises more stiffer so causing less vibration?
Lodoss, actualy you got it half right and wrong. Yes the inserts will make the connection more stiffer, this is exactly where the vibration will stem from. Stock mounts are made of rubber that is some what flexible. This rubber absorbs the vibration that the engine creates, where as the inserts would bisicaly fuse the engine and chaises together. When you have a solid bond like that the vibration will just travel into all the other parts of the car until something absorbs it. If vibration is any kind of a problem, rest assure that with the inserts it will only get worse. Oh, and if you make the decision to get the inserts remember that ES only makes the front/rear and Prothane only comes with the right/left and rear.
