is the b16A a good motor?

stock d motors are not that great but built they are bad ass. i talking about stock motors. i would like to see a 200hp n/a d stock internal motor from head down hold up to a b16 stock internal motor with 200 n/a. b16 will last alot longer. rods in a b16 will last a lot longer than d shit

im a torque fan. i cant stand having barely over 100 ft lbs like most if not all B16s have. Omniman buiilt a 200whp B16, which had 120 ft lbs. fully built. i should be making over 140 in my nonvtec motor…

omniman built a b16 head and made 200@whp on a stock bottom end. not build just amazing headwork and tuning. if ur building a nonvtec motor and only making 150@whp wouldnt u be kinda pissed off? use a vtec head and slightly port the head and some decent camshafts and make closer to 180-200@whp instead.

no, i’m not pissed off at all. it takes half the money to build a nonvtec motor.

i hope your not talking about the motor omniman recently got famous for the second time. first he invests ls/vtec, then he goes and builds an mild b16a stroker with ls crank, rods and tech43 pistons. crazy guy, i heard same time he built the stroker motor he built some other 1.6L b16 with just over 200hp. i must have missed the thread tho.

don’t even bother proving him wrong, he sold me his vtec shit. =) one day i’ll throw together a few motors. i need a 94-up gsr head tho.

why everyone been gangin up on rockstar :gay: but whatever motor is better to you than get it, b16 and b18a can both be good motors just depends how you wanna fix them up i guess

my ls is making 147whp and 138 wtq now i am putting on a b16 head now.

how the hell did you make 138lbs/ft of torque?

how so? to build either reliably ull need to buy pistons/rod combo(even if its CTRs on ur car) and better off gettin new bearings and balancing the block for higher revving it still adds up to the same even when u do a crazy port job on a ls head(say dave from headgames) it will still cost u roughly around 1200 bucks just for the headwork alone not including cams and shit. i was going to do a non vtec buildup awhile ago until i saw that spending a lil bit more to do the same with just a lsvtec setup wasnt worth it. but yet again to each his own. a mildly ported head is almost like using a vtec head.

i dont know but thats what the dyno said i wanted to get a new copy of my dyno run.i called and they went out of biss they all split and when to open other shops. alot of people dont belive i have that much tq but lost my dyno sheet so i have tried to get another sheet.now i have to find out what shops they when to and who has the computer with my pulls on it. my cp is great i have 180/180/186/180 with 85,000 on my motor that with spraying a bunch of bottles of zex. the 147whp 138 wtq is with out the bottle

that just is in no way right. the torque is too high. what’s your setup?

its all in tuning and what u have done. not to be mean or nothing but if i give it away then every one will want the same set up. i will post dyno graph if i can get one of see where i put mine.later

i just don’t see any way you could have that much torque. right now i’m making 148/121, and i don’t know how you could have 17 lbs/ft more than me. do tell.
