I’ll blow away u B16 boys anyday with my LS.
I thought b20z made 146 hp and 133 ft/lbs maybe I am wrong but I think the gear ratio would be to close for it. With my b18 i was only ever at like 85km when I hit the redline w/ ls tranny. I can’t imagine what it would be like with a ys1 tranny
might aswell go ls-v … rebuild your b18a ( its easy and cheap )
haha!
ls-v is out the question how ever i do have a jdm b18c block that i was planning on building up but for now im going with the b16 and to compare a 7ft-lb of tq lost to a 40 hp gain seems to be a no brainer to me i cant seem to see how 7 lbs of tq is out running a motor with 40 more hp lol but hey if u guys think the ls is faster then so be it but thanx for all the input im going with the b16
hmm… wait a minute. i believe this! lol.:werd:
Sounds and looks like hot air to me!
It was restricted to that in the CR-V. Mine made 146whp/137wtq with just I/H/E and a stock cat… so, more like 160+ hp at the crank. B20Z would totally kill a stock B16 and it actually has some torque.
My good freind had a B16 in his teg and i pulled on him hard with my B17. he sold his set up to a kid that cant drive, and i jumped at least 5 cars on him of a second gear roll. My single cam 4 door neon i had back in the day killed b16 tegs, just not worth the money imo. unless you plan on boosting it, save ur money and build the ls, ive seen plenty ls motors beat g3 gsr’s all day long.
i still cant see a 130 hp car out run a 170 hp car that dosent even sound right especially when the tq diffrences is only 6 ft-lbs
:werd: That’s exactly what I was trying to say. Anyways, here are the stats and more links. This should clear up everything :read:

Look at item no. 369 and 370… 1989 XSI specs 15.40 sec. 1/4 mile times.
Note: This was the 160HP B16a 1/4 mile time…Not the 170 HP B16a.
b16 is a nice swap but can seem kinda slow if u dont do it with the right tranny.
if that b20z info is accurate it seem like a no brainer.
my b16 swapped ls seemed pretty tight but i think it was just a strong motor, maybe it had cams n stuff in it stright from japan, some times that happens. regualr ppl over there owned there old cars also, some times u get them with work already done to them, upgrade clutches being more common to find on swaps.
i know guys with mr2 went to go put in hls 264 cams, opened it up and it already had em lol! he had no idea lol
also people seem to forget there are diffrent b16 im getting the obd1 sir 2 b16 which has more hp then the b17 with the same amount of tq so think about it more hp and same tq as a b17 and the ls is actually lighter then the gsr so again u tell me how a ls with a b18a1 will out run a b16a sir2 it still just dosent make since lol now maybe if we were talking bout the obd0 158 hp b16 even then the b16 has 28 more hp
i think your on the right track there, dont believe fanboi band wagon hype
oh i was getting the b16 regardless for 2 reasons one its cheap and two its faster then a ls motor lol and a 3rd reason is i have a complete jdm b18c gsr block sitting in the shed begging for 11.5:1 compression pistons lol sofif i grow bored with the b16 i have most of what i need to go poormans type r
LOL Chris, you would know. :D:D
Ls or b20z with B16 trans > B16 with short gear trans. stock for stock
built up might be a different story.
tq owns!
I also agree… got 183k miles on my stock ls motor. Have nothing but a custom made cold air intake (that i can switch to a short ram on rainy days), Crank case breather, universal n1 style muffler, angled with stock piping, and an Exedy stage 1 clutch. All topped off with pennzoil platinum 10w-30, and honda mtf.
I’ve OWNED a crap load of EK’s, EG’s, and ONE G2 teg.
And I’m not exactly a super skinny guy. XD
(Good driver is the key!)
I had a a stock b18b in my integra. Got hydrolock and swapped it out with a jdm b16a sirII engine and did a full hydro tranny conversion. Got a chipped ecu now and it screams in the high 8200’s vtec engages hard at 5000 RPMs redlines at 8000 and revlimit is set at 8300.
ask yourself at what rpm does these engine make there max power?
