Damn dog cali sucks ass with the fucking cops florida is a diffrent story there isnt even no smog bull shit
Yes, it does as far as Vehicle Smog emissions goes. Dog.

meow
yeah, there are too many tree hugging dip shits running our government here in California. Personally, I have about had it. Ready to move to some state where one’s personal freedoms are still intact. I am the middle of getting my car ref’d, but unfortunately the same dip shits can’t even come up with a budget for the state, so all the ref stations are closed at the moment. I would just do your car right so you never have to be bothered by Mr CHP again. I am planning on getting the bar sticker and from there, just do minor, or hidden mods that are not detectable by the naked eye, and easily changed when smog time comes again.
Yup, same here. Still waiting. I actually went to court and the judge was really cool about it. Stating “By no fault of your own, I have no choice but to give you another month until your able to test your vehicle”. So pretty much, I’m rolling stock for a while.
Ok, its official. I finally got tested and here are the results:
Visual Inspection: PASS
Functional Check: FAIL
Emissions Test: FAIL
15 MPH–164 HC(PPM) Average is 21 (Maximum Allowable is 89)
25 MPH–58
15 MPH–54 CO(%) Average is 21 (Maximum Allowable is 53)
25 MPH–0.13
15 MPH–1842 NO(PPM) Average is 150 (Maximum Allowable is 708)
25 MPH–522
Pretty much failed miserably. I then brought it to my smog guy and he stated that the car was probably tested cold and that I should have driven the shit out of it. Well, I did. But during the visual inspection they ask you to turn off your car and then pop your hood. So for approximately 30-45min the engine cooled off as well as the Catalytic Converter resulting in failure for Nox and Co2.
I am happy that I past my Visual though.
So…G2er’s what should I do? Should I get a new catatlytic converter? Should I replace parts?
Tune up including a valve adjustment should do the trick. If it doesn’t, then a new cat. Instead of buying a new one, see if you can borrow someones.
Thanks for the tip. I had the timing adjusted to 16 deg from 21 but I’ve never had a valve adjustment. How exactly is that done? Also, I’m gonna go ahead and replace the cat with a new one since I’ve already tried using one from a friend and it still seems sketchy. Pretty much paying for peace of mind also.
i just want to know why you opened your hood? you know that you didn’t have to right?
same thing happened to me, and when i talked to local CHP office, they told me that i didn’t have to open the hood, that there was no probable cause.
you speeding or even swerving on the fwy does not count as probable cause, if so why dont you see drunks pulled over on the side of the road with their hoods open?
exactly…just dick cops that have nothing better to do with their time.
hope everything work out for you man.
He opened his hood because it was the visual inspection part of the smog check. It was the smog place that opened his hood, not cops.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think Kb8 was referring to the initial ticket. Why I opened my hood in the first place.
The reason why I opened my hood is because around here its better to cooperate with CHP then to have them tow away my car for suspicious activity, ergo, not opening my hood because I appear to have a stolen engine or something. Trust me, its sounds ridiculous but has happened.
Ahhh…yeah that could be so.
Read the last couple posts regarding you having your hood open…and then him asking why you opened your hood…
opps oh well my mistake.
not talking about the smog, i’m talking about when the officer pulled him over.

man, i wish they would have tried that BS with me. talk about a law suit!!!
I know what you mean, but in this county, Prosecutors are pretty damn good at their job. I mean, its pretty difficult financially to even fix my car let alone hiring an attorney for something like this. But thanks for the support.
Yes I know. That is why I said my mistake.
damn that sucks bro… but tegboi is correct…
i got 2 state ref tickets with my old DSM for modified emissions… aka intake!
sucked… but what made it worse. i got 2 in 2 different cities… i had a lot of shit done to my gst. sooooo i parted and sold the car. gotta crx… then traded for my db1…
and im happy with my results =]
but tegboi got that ref bull on lock!!!
thumbs up to homeboy!
Thanks for the replies…But does anyone know how I can pass this test?

after watching the video, read all the comments there too. also got this:

Hope this helps. I would take it to my mechanic or the Acura dealer because I just don’t have time to mess with this kind of stuff these days. Back in the days, I would be down in the garage right now.
Thanks for the tip. After adjusting valves should I change out my Cat for a new one?
