Its official....I'm Fucked!!!

I don’t know if you have do this but when I didn’t pass last time I did a tune up
Plugs
Plug wires
Oil change
air filter.
And new cat and o2 senser…
I just had my smog and I passed.and all I had to do was oil … Cuz of the stuff I replaced last time

dang, i remember when i got my car tested it passed with some of the maximum allowed pollutants. exactly the maximum.

Well…Now for sure I’m officially fucked. The judge just ordered me to either show a salvage title or a passing smog cert. I really dont know what else to do. Should I just say fuck it all and start over? or should I give one last hoorah to try and pass the test?

Need your help fellow G2IC’ers.

I have until Feb 3rd.

man i am glad i dont live there… in albuquerque we only have to pass the sniffer, but that kinda kills good tunes on a turbo but you can run a standard tun then reset the old one … good luck man i say go for it and i don’t know if you stated this before but is you cat converter still good or is it the o.e one if so i would get a new one cause there only good for 150k or so …

It’s a lot cheaper to try to fix this car than it is to start over. Get a new cat and a tune up, and go from there. Or find a b18a1 from a car you know passed, and swap the “stock” parts back in. The pass the certification, and swap your shit back in and be more careful from here on out.

buy yourself some time…pretend sell it to a sibling or cousin. end of story. you can still drive it, tags, and all…

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m just worried about fixing it up as much as possible spending money and then ending up failing again. Then what? Keep it as a salvage title and make it a race car? I really dont know what to do. As far as pretending to sell it, how does one go about doing that?

write a paper saying “i sold this car to blahblah”

honestly who cares if its a salvage title … can you drive on the street in cali with one …

That is a big fat negative on that one. If your pulled over in a salvage title vehicle because it is unable to pass smog in CA your car will be towed and possibly crushed or sent to a auto dismantler.

register that bish out of state then

or, just find the problem. fix it, or pick n pull and find a DA with lower miles, with a good looking engine…

swap it out, keep it legit & able to pass smog… so you wont have to deal with this anymore…

Thanks for the Replies.

Tegboi…I was thinking about swapping a stock B18A1 later on down the line but I have no funds nor the time to do it within two weeks. After some serious thought I’ve pretty much come to this conclusion.

Fix whatever I can afford and test it again one last time. If I fail, just register it as a non-op through DMV and keep it off the road until I’m able to repair it. Or just straight up part it out, sell it and buy a new one.

I just scheduled an appt. with the BAR and the earliest they can test is 2/9/09. I have court on 2/3/09. So I was thinking about testing it at a test only place and bring in the results to show the judge so he can give me more time.

sell the car to your girlfriend. [have her pass underground smog] have her sell the car back to you.

So apparently since Jan 1st 09’er it is now twice as expensive to replace a catalytic converter. Also, when they do replace it, the shop has to keep your old cat and turn it into the state like a core exchange. I went this weekend and was expecting to pay $110 installed. But when I got there the guy was going to charge me $275 installed. Found a better place and got it done for $195 installed. But now I think my car runs a hell of lot better.

carsound off ebay. $40 muffler shop. :read:

Well…I finally passed. Woo Hoo:rockon::rockon: Passed the nox and the visual test. Now I’m an official DA9 with a B18C1. Got the ref sticker and everything. The actual test only cost $8.25 and that was it.

congrats

Thanks Willbad. I am so relieved that I passed. Just the feeling of driving an Integra without proper legal paper work is stressful enough. Now I can truly enjoy my DA on the roads without any hassle, which here in CA is a pretty big accomplishment. (well to me anyway)

Fuck yeah dude! I’ve been following this thread since the start, and I’m glad to see the whole ordeal is finally ended in a good way. Enjoy that legal vTak, you’ve certainly gone through enough to deserve it.
