i have to say that lil, well that big !ss project came out hot.
thumbs up son, u the men for taking that time. how much will u charge to do it for some also???
go to MYSPACE.COM n look on videos for “1992 integra night video” u can watch a stupid video of my car n see how the lights look with hid n yellow fog lights.
I only did it because when i brought the car the last owner painted the fog lights and the headlights were super dim…I checked all over the net to get some retro fitted, and when i found a site that does it they were chargin around $1000 to do it and that’s way more than what i paid for the car lol.And since i had a set of TYC one piece lights for my EG i decided to rip em open and see if tackle the job myself …And i wouldn’t be able to do it for anyone else do to the fact that i work full time and this was a very time consuming project…Plus i got alot of work ahead of me for the rest of my car that needs attention…But if you need it done professionally the site ishttp://customlightz.com/They do excellent work…
The site you mentioned says this for the integra:
“$250 - The following vehicles belong to the $250 bracket:
Acura Integra”
Not sure if thats per side or the whole thing. Also not sure if that is just the retrofitting, or includes the ballasts and HIDs. I bet the ballasts and HID bulbs are additional reading this from the top of the site: “The labor fee covers installation/alignment of projectors, installation of shrouds and trim, and optional custom paint job.
And NOW!!! Upgraded sealant is part of the labor fee; a $30 value.”
Here is where I am pulling this: http://customlightz.com/ then hover over “services” then hover on “projector retrofit” then click on “projector retrofit [low beam]”
I would imagine that the $250 is per side, so your looking at $500 for the set, then the bulbs, wiring and ballasts. Ya they are going to be expensive.
I e-mailed the owner and he quoted me price of $250…But i checked on the sites where customers actually had work done from him that is just labor so even if you give him your own sourced parts, $250 only covers labor and can still run upwards of $1000…He also says turn around time is really fast something like 2 or 3 days. This is where some customers had work done by him http://board.accordtuner.com/showthread.php?p=317285#post317285
i guess if you had the money to spare and werent creative, you would go to him…
update on this, i made it black housed, painted the whole headlight housing, and trim on the fog light… the lense, i continued using the oem jdm lense which i started to sand, but i ended up sanding it down more and more and got down to using rubbing compound stuff, and now i got it pretty clear, but still scratches that need to get sanded down and rebuffed. it’s just about time now to just put in the new H1 bulb, and try it out…
if it looks halfway decent, i’ll take more time with it, mask off the area, and sand it cleaner…
Or you don’t have the tools or workplace to do this sort of thing. When I lived in an apartment, I would have had the tools, but not the place to do this type of work. Now that I own my own house, with garage, I can do this type of stuff.
Others may have the creativity (they could conceptually draw a modification), but not the know-how to do that sort of thing.
hahaha, jdm lifestyle is me, with my bedroom full of car parts, using a hair dryer to take these headlights apart, a dremel in the corner with a box under it to catch the shavings when i cut out the projectors, and use a tuperware bowl with water in it to sand down the headlights @ 2am when i cant sleep…
very jdm lifestyle… hahahahah
i got some pictures, i’ll get pictures of lighting up later when i get back from bowling…
so far, i have 1 side on, the lights look very… whiter, and there is a visible cut off on a near wall… i need to clean it up some more (the lense on the inside) just to get it more clear… so far it looks good. im about to drive it out in a couple of minutes for the first time at night… hopefully it gives enough good lighting for me to see well…
HID’s comming soon if i can get the other side finnished as well…
What housings are those? Reto-fit? Is it possible to get a clean shot of the headlights in the day and the night shining on a garage or something (with and without HIDs)
Looks pretty clean… I’ve been thinking about going with the 94+ JDM Type-R headlights w/ HIDs on my 91, but wanted to see a few other options. The shaved JDM one-piece w/ projectors in them are pretty clean, but would like it all clear. Also thought about the JDM one-piece w/ newer one-piece clear lense, of course all my choices would have projectors + HIDs.
I don’t get all this lens switching. If you were to switch ebay lens with JDM housing, wouldn’t the outcome be the same as having the ebay lights to begin with? I know the inside of the JDM housing is ugly as fuck, why make the lens clear so everyone will see the ugliness? Why not just buy ebay lights and call it a day?
i just want a one piece set to replace both stock headlights. no cutting, baking, sanding, siliconing, etc. one piece for each side that just pops in easy and snug. any reccomendations on the easiest headlights piece? anything would look better than the stock on it now:-) oh, and will the stock light bulbs work for this?
