I am planning on taking the plunge, I just got in a fender bender with my jdm one piece headlights again…
I bought a new fender, and one of the headlights are cracked, so I thought this time I would try the jdm itr
projector headlights with the black housing and retro fit them in my DA. Any tips on making this conversion work?
I have a welder, and many other tools at my disposal, I work at NAPA, I can get some things for a low cost.
I know I will have to modify the the hood, expand the height of the bumper a little, and modify the fenders for the
corners. I just placed my bid, on the itr lights, about 260 shipped, will have to clean them up. I will post pics of my
project, plus a complete redo paint job again, with some better bodywork than before.
Let me know if you have any ideas on how to proceed and I will show the progress, I will be in holiday next week and I won"t be
able to start the modifications till close to April, I am still in the planning process. but ideas are more than welcome.
I’ve seen a few of these conversions but only 1 looked good. I have pictures that I can send you to your email if you like.
the only difference between itr headlights and regular jdm dc headlights are the hids… the stock hids. its a headache that i dont think you want to deal with. if one of them goes out or starts to have problems, good luck finding/buying a replacement…
you would be better off getting a regular set of the headlights and buying a set of hids. ALL of the jdm dc headlights have projectors in them. the sole difference is the oem hids
there was a thread on this a few weeks back you should be able to find the picture that the guy posted…
Hid projectors are not the same as halogen projectors though. The correct way to use hids is always in projectors designed for hids.

Back from the grave, the old JDM ITR headlight DA9!
even then, if you were to buy a regular set and retrofit the “proper” projectors in them, you would still come out on top and save a lot of money versus buying the itr headlights. im not saying do what i say, you do what you want, just my opinion. the way i see it, the cost of buying the itr headlights with the oem hids in them and having the chance that one day those hids will fail, is 100s of dollars more than if the alternate route was taken.
finding an oem replacement hid for an itr headlight will probably cost a lot more than getting a replacement for an aftermarket hid set up. just if it were me i would get a regular set of headlights and put hids in them rather than dealing with the oem set up.
but if he wants the itr headlights then cool, go for it…
I know what you’re saying, retrofitting isn’t the easiest thing to do though so if I were the op I would just grab some itr’s. If a ballast ever dies it could be replaced with any D2S ballast, even a kit ballast if OEM was too expensive.
I won’t being going to hid just yet, I just like the look of them, and will be only paying a little bit more than replacing my DA Jdm one-piece lights for a third time. Thanks for the comments, will show progress when I start next month, I have the DB2 Integra and want it to look like it was stock. Any tips on the project would be great.
if anyone has pictures, my email is sineoflife@hotmail.com
if ur buying those itr headlights u are going HID as they are factory!
The ones I am ordering are jdm dc2 not the itr, sorry for the confusion. I know I can later retrofit them fairly easily to HID
as they have the projectors in them already. I am more interested in the modifications I need to do to make these look stock on the DA.
gotta trim the bumper too I think.
Youre paying 250+ for a set of regular dc2 headlights?! Wow. Thats crazy. Email me.

I think i like it…I feel like I’d need to see it in person.
^I feel you on that!
good luck… that car doesn’t exist anymore
Sad, I’m sure bad conversions look awful.
i never saw it in person, but i followed the build thread of that car. It was done really well and the outcome was super nice. It looked OEM.
Sadly, the car was stolen and stripped
the fitment doesn’t looks so good, you can see all the gaps between the hood and bumper.
