So any ideas on if the K24 would clear the hood. Im thinking with the skeleton on the hood trimmed and maybe some spacers on the back might get it cleared…mmmmm>…:manual:
I’ll try to get some pic of my swap with the hood closed to see the clearance (My new windsheild is not installed yet…)
You got a k24 sil
Nop, but we may able to see if there’s enough clearance for a k24 with the pic of the k20
That’s what I thought. Well I have read a lot about the k24 swap and I’m pretty sure that you only need to notch/raise if you stay with the rbb intake. Its like 19mm taller I beleive, something like that. You can go with the rbc an that gives a little more clearence. But it’s still close with the rbc so may need to notch but hood spacers are not needed. I’ll take pics when I get the beast in there.
look into a skunk2 intake manifold for clearance.
I got the hasport mount kit. Nothing under the hood yet but I am going with the k20/k24 frank.
^^Lucky! I wish i had waited. I remember measuring about 10mm between the rbc and hood brace so trimming the brace should be more than enough to go k24 with an rbc.
Hey guys I’m trying to figure this wiring out but it’s really confusing. Ok This is for the fan wiring, I traced the blue/black wire on the original rad fan. Then I traced that and they turn into a plug that turns into a redwire and a black wire? This is where I’m stumped I figured I’d I was just be taking the fan control wire and wiring it up. Where do I go from
here can you guys help out or is this something you guys want me to figure out on my owncause it was a pain for you guys also?
I’m not exactly sure how to wire the fans. I had a friend who is into electrical/electronics. He made a separate harness using two wires connected directly to the battery. One wire had a 30amp fuse the other 15. Those ran to a relay. Plugged the b-series thermo into the bottom of the rad and ran that to the relay. And then ran 2 wires from the relay to the fans. Probably doesn’t tell you anything but it might help if you know more than me lol. Il ask him specifics and when I see him.
Actually it puts me in A direction. So that’s good, I actually do understand that explanation to a point but making it’s is a whole other story. Thanks again, and again and again.
K I think I have it figured out. The 15amp fuse wire from the bat connects to one terminal of the relay. Another terminal of the relay is connected to the water temp sensor. Water temp sensor has 2 connectors one to the relay and one to ground. So when the water is at temp the sensor grounds? the relay. Which pulls power from the other wire connected to the bat (30amp) and splits it in two for powering the fans. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works and kinda makes sense to me. If anyone sees anything wrong with that please correct. Sorry I duno how to get it working using the oem harness and all that.
I’ve done it with my OEM harness and Rywire Sub-Harness, I’ll go check how I did since I don’t remember.
I’ll try to go tomorrow.
Well I finally test fitted my engine today any of you have the crossmember and transmission interfering with each other? How close is your power steering rack to the trans? Did any of you just convert to non powersteering rack? I think I’m just going that route instead of rerouting lines cause I don’t think it’s going to fit with it.
Hmm i don`t have any problems with my transmission clearing the subframe.
I duno about the ps rack, switched mine out for a civic rack before the swap.
Had enough clearence too. I still have the oem PS rack and Subframe.
Yo sil you got any pics of how you wired the rad fan to work?
I have to take pic of the DA tomorrow, I’m gonna check for the Fan wiring at the same time.
Sweet. Its still cold in wisconsin and my build is being done outside so nothing is getting done mechanically so im trying to get all the wiring done. Thanks a bunch!
Sorry sir,
I wasn’t able to check my wiring for you, my hood is on it (Not Bolted) and the guy wans’t able to help me put it away (Recent surgery).
He needs to do the hood again so as soon as it’s not on the car, I’ll go check for you.
Quick pic for you guys:
