Why is it so dead in here? I guess I have one of 2-3 K swapped DA’s?
I think it’s just because the DA/DB chassis never got much love. On top of that I don’t know how it is for other people but the junkyards in my area don’t like to let these motors go cheap. Plus for the wiring retarded they don’t make a bolt in harness yet that I know of.
I’m mostly lurking on here…
We just need more K support like the EG/EK/DC/EF chassis do.
i am doing a k20/24 swap in my da9. Im from ontario canada, and ive messaged a guy by the name of mike at k-tuned here in ontario, and the da is one of two chassis they dont make a full “turn key” swap. You basically get what you can and fab and pice the rest together. mine is not finished, and i have no pics as of now. the motors out for body work and shaving.
Hey that’s sick man! You should host a build thread on your K-swap. Maybe it’ll help more G2 members trying to run K-swaps as well.
So it’s not as easy as taking a full DA harness and a full K harness and having a company make a harness? I fully intend on keeping my DA forever and a will be getting a K at some point. Wiring is the only thing I’m not confident with, like most people.
There are adapter harnesses on the market that almost completely make it plug and play. http://www.rywire.com/catalog/kseries-adapter-p-38.html This is the one I have and then you have http://www.hybrid-racing.com/store/hybrid-racing-conversion-race-harness-for-k-series-engines.html. There are a few wires you have to run separately but a K series specific forum, cough K20a, has endless info about these swaps and my favorite K swap company, Hybrid-Racing, has many great, in depth articles and K swap guides available by email. http://www.hybrid-racing.com/
K-DA is my dream
they arent complete plug and play, but they are pretty simple. I feel like i saw a company called wire worx that had literally direct plug and play wiring kits.
I’m attending fanshawe in jan-feb…I must see this thing lol
thats sick chase!
id love a k series DA but im afraid cause i also like to run my car low…and with the shitty irish roads and speed bumps everywhere i just couldnt
mabye if i get another car in the future il look into it and use the DA6 for shows, weekends etc
wouldn’t it be easier to get aem stand alone engine management to run it
That is great information, thank you!
Are there other mount options out there that don’t cause the K to sit so low like the Hasport ones?
I would rather deal with the hood clearance issue than it being 2 inches off the ground.
Only options are cut/weld/basically make your own. Innovative which I had with my B series swap and will never support that company ever again. And then Hasport as you mentioned.
What happened with Innovative?
Less then a year of having my mounts the bushings started sliding out of the mounts and the rear bushing was starting to deteriorate. This isn’t my mount as it was much MUCH worst but this is out of a friends car I purchased. I believe they use very cheap polyurethane for there mounts. AS you can see the bushing is starting to warp and stretch. I will never talk bad about a product I have never used personally.
In comparison I ran the same set of Hasport mounts on 3 separate cars for almost 2 years and they never showed any sort of wear, tear, or damage.
been there, done that.
