Ok locally there’s a group buy for the ksports 770 for suspension and 140 for the lcas I was gonna buy it and everyone on that forum seems to love the ksports but I come here and see people saying they aren’t great and tend to blow out etc it’s roughly 250 more for the koni set up which is ok I guess but I’m ordering this week regardless so quick replies please so I order the right setup
Why not get function and form coilovers and then get better lca like skunk2 or function7.
the right set up is koni ground control, FF/Ksport/D2 are all crap (i speak from experience)
Looks like I need to talk to Brian then weksos is gonna be the cheapest right I’ve been trying to find them used and can’t find a set lol
I bought my Ksports about three years ago and haven’t had any problems with them. I also got them and the lca for only $650, so it was a much better deal then. If I was going to pay as much as you I would upgrade.
I just ordered a set of pic selects myself instead of the typical gc/koni setup. Should be interesting to see how my new setup pans out overall.
$770 for ksports lol, i payed $550 shipped for them. I have koni/ground control now and i like it way more then the ksports
Ksport is legit track equipment.
well think i’m gonna get a koni/gc setup from a member here, great price little stiffer spring rate but its ok
vraceworks will hook u up with k sports for a good price
i’m buying a set of koni/gc off a member here, they have a little stiffer spring rate which is good for me also so it all worked out thanks for the input tho guys
ok leo u seem to be huggin the nuts of koni/gc a lil tight… but that’s alright… I’m just curious what was ur experience with the other suspension… can you get into a lil more detail other than they suck… and the koni/gc other than custom spring rates… what makes em top dog
i have gone through as many suspension set ups as i have wheels
first some info : all of these were used on the same 91 DA that i have had for about 7ish yrs
i have used Azenis/BFG tires
my car is barely driven, ride height has been at a constant 1 finger gap from fender to tire (except when i feel like dumping it lol)
TEIN SS- nice set up just too soft
TEIN Basic- would not let me go low enough with out completely bottoming out the strut
Function Form- shitty chinese quality, the seals started leaking within a month of purchase (keep in mind that my car is barely driven) i was about a finger gap (from fender to tire) so i was surprised they went out that fast, i trashed them and lost $480 bucks
Ksport-same thing as FF, i was hooked up from a retailer, when they started leaking i exchanged them, the same thing happened again, i exchanged them yet another time and again they started leaking within about 2-3 weeks, one strut was completely dead
Skunk 2-started leaking when i was slammed, springs werent matched to the dampening and made my ride super bouncy (i was using GC extended top hats)
Tokico white with eibach springs-better then all the other set ups from above, hard was actually different then when you set them to soft
I “hug” koni/GCs nuts because:
1:the konis have a lifetime warranty as long as your the original owner
2. they handle a spring rate up to 500lbs with out problems (unless your dumped)
3.soft and hard actually feel differend
4.you can rebuild them for about $125 bucks each ( no extra charge to revalve to Koni “race” status
mine have been redone by pro parts usa
i got them revalved and shortened, with custom GC rates (12.5k front 6in spring 10.5k rear 7in spring ) with Ground Control extended top hats
my “soft” is different then my “hard”
you can feel free to come and drive my car (i dont mind) and let me know the difference between my set up
and the crappy ones listed above
but feel free to jump on the :bandwagon: and make your own decision on what is JdM yO!!! lol jk
What makes the Ksports/D2/FF so cool? How about you find and see that those made in Taiwan with NO RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT and tell me they actually are better than a tried and true Koni shock with Ground Control sleeves/springs(Eibach) setup. Koni is always proven to perform as is Eibach.
Those Made in Tawian (Ksports/D2/FF) are made with by copying from another company that has actually done testing by doing real Research and Development by using the car on a track since it’s a performance product. There’s a reason why there’s a premium price when buying a quality setup. The Made In Taiwan stuff has random spring rates which probably aren’t consistent through use, shocks deteriorate fast, bouncy (Different from STIFF) because people always riding dumped with them which means they aren’t meant to be used like that. Why? because they have no real testing behind except for people saying “They ride nice yo!”
Again, The Ksport/D2/FF look good because it catches people eyes with the fancy coloring. They “ride ok” how often do you see people really driving with these daily and driving on them hard. Do we need to go in more on why a Koni/GC is better?
Leo: thanks for ur explanation. I wasn’t tryin to be a dick, I just hate when an opinion or conclusion isn’t backed by explanations. and thanks for the offer to drive your car, but i live in norcal and i won’t be driving for a while considering i just had back surgery(victim of a girl texting and driving) next time i bring my car to socal i would also like for u to drive my “shitty” ksports which i do drive daily and aggressively. and hoppin’ bandwagons not my thing… otherwise unrelated… i wouldnt be a warriors fan anymore… haha cuz they are sucking balls this and last season. but i guess for my gsr i’ll try the koni/gc set up. but all that is gon’ be on the back burner for now… big plans for vegas before i take the leap haha
honestly i can vouch for the Koni’s and leo also. i had a set on a pontiac sunfire and having the soft and hard was nice, and when on hard it was an awesome ride. it came with springs as an entire spring/strut combo from them, was a hair rough but not unbarable at all. and when the time comes i’ll be going with Koni’s on my DA now also, along with a set of H&R springs (a tech at Koni recommended H&R) and have heard awesome things about H&R as well.

what spring rates are they? i have 500/550 spring rates if your willing to trade
Koni/GC user here. I’m dumped, and have no complaints. Ride is epic, and handles like a champ. Great setup, best bang for the buck you can get.
Ksport=fail

ehh… grassroots had mixed reviews… and farnorthracing just called them crap with out testing the crap suspension so it didnt help… and as for the ksports they pretty much are bangin for my buck considering i only paid $500 shipped from ksport and they had pretty good customer service
