I looked on a page or so back, and the top view of your timing belt makes it look old. I would double check that. Wouldnt want all this to be wasted money if that thing goes.
Im just going with low beems the reason is i already had one projecter i got for free and i almost never use high beams so it was either shell more money or save money staying single. i have only spent like
$115 on my retro so far too so thats another reason
and the last one is im doing my timing belt soon going with gate hp one and a new vc gasket i dont want to use till i can do both and maybe adjust my valves while im at it
So I got my 92-93 tails today and there in pretty good shape one side is cracked but i think i cqan fix it. Then i cracked the other side when i was clearing them out pretty easy to do though. So i stuck them in the oven on 200 for about 30 min and started pulling them apart using a leatherman. then put them back in for a few min and went at it again took like 3 times but only a couple mins the 2nd and 3rd times. Then they were apart enough to pull out the abmber part here is one i did and the other i did not. also got my hood all cut and buffed just need a pic get one soon.
and done
WOW! Those alot nicer than the 90-91 w/ the super clean trick.
I think so too then im gonna get them tinted all except the turn signal should look sweet.
So all you did was heat them up, take them apart and take out the ambers?
I know . . . easier said than done but, am I right? :read:
Any pics of the amber pieces you took out? I really want to try this on my spares.
Well pretty much give them a bit of time and use a screw driver. If you have some gloves you can still kinda feel with use them i got a blister on my thumb from pulling on the lights
OH and make sure you set them in your lap or somewhere soft i busted one side where the vent is im gonna cut off my old one right there and patch them together
look kinda like mine, i bought these off ebay after failing at doing my 92-93 tails.
I thought about getting those but wanted oem and they cost me the same as those
so got some more done on my retro cut off alot on the top of the reflector. Im a little worried about how much im gonna have to trim off of my shrouds i mean they were 50 bucks. I guess ill just have to do it im hoping i can get the projector further back too. Then im gonna make a couple of polished aluminum side pieces to cover the back of the projector and reproduce some of the reflector look. here is what i got done so far.
sorry if the pics suck i used my phone
and if you do this dont forget a mask you do not want to breathe in this stuff its like fiberglass resin nasty stuff
more work on the retro had to cut more out of the top to get the projector back more
got the back out where i want it
started hacking up my $50 shrouds sucks but gotta do it
here i have the shroud in the reflector
need to grind down the excess tabs
had to gring down quite a bit off the top
Now to work on this space
started by making a template out of card board
cut it down a bit and tested it
how i attached it
then i cut one out of a sheet of thin aluminum bent the same and stuck it this is just the test piece but looks good to me
after i bit of work i got it almost to fit together still needs some final work but close
Those are looking really good! I wish I was anywhere near this far along. I’m just in the beginning stages. Quick question, how did you fasten the proector in? I can’t see it screwed in anywhere.
Those lights are looking good. Just thought I would toss out a suggestion.
In the yellow area I thought it would look good if you put some leds or something to make the old headlight area glow since the light will be coming out of the projector.
I havent mounted them yet just getting it all to fit together first then im useing plumbers tape it a metal strip with a bunch of holes in it should work out.
