I finally put these on yesterday. I know a lot of people want to know if the EF rears fit our cars ok. Well, they do. I think they are actually better than the teg rear shocks which are, for some reason, extremely long. When I had the stock shocks on with the coilovers there would be a 2-3" gap between the spring and upper spring seat when I jacked the car all the way up (in the back). With the EF shocks there is only a 1-2" gap. You could probably use these shocks with stock springs, the only problem would be that the the stock spring would have some mondo pre-load.
The installation went pretty smoothly. The KYB’s are much more suited to coilovers than the stocks were. The threaded part is about 1/4" longer than the stocks and the shock bodies are a little fatter (mostly in the rear). This meant that I could use the polyurethane upper seats that came with the coilovers (instead of the stock rubber ones I had to use with the stock shocks). Also the fatter rear shocks let the set screws on the sleves actually touch the shock bodies (which they didnt on the stockers).
First I went to a 4wd shop and picked up some rancho dust boots (the guy kept telling me I wouldnt be able to get them to work, dumbass). Then I went and found my old stock steel dustboots and cut them down to 3/4". I did this so I would have somewhere to wire tie the top of the boots, it worked out beautifully. I now have nice thisck dust boots on the shocks, i recommend this to anyone. Other than that I didnt do anything special for installation.
I went for a drive today and played around with the settings a little. I love these shocks. I mean I really have nothing to compare these to besides the stocks but these things are bad ass. Bumps I used to dred going over now feel a lot smaller and the ride is nowhere near as harsh as it used to be. Also, there is no more bouncy which is very good. they didnt make as much difference in handling as I thought they would but they did help quite a bit. The initial turn in is where these things made pretty much all the difference, they set the car up very nice for the corners. It now feels like its always ready. The teg used to have a little front wheel chatter when pushed hard but that is now gone.
At first they were set at 2 in the front and 3 in the rear which was ok but I had to mess with it. I didnt even touch the rear I only played with the front. I tried stiffer settings in the front but didnt like that, the car felt as if it had to put more effort into the corners. Then I tried 1 in the front and I really like it. The thing cuts in like a cop who almost missed the Krispy Creme drive in. its very nice.
All in all I love these shocks. They were a great investment. and I’m sure these would be pretty comparable to yellows (if you disagree please tell me why) at $150-$200 less. If you are looking for a first mod I would say go for the suspension it makes the car sooooo much more fun to drive. Sorry Its so long and sorry there arent any pics.
Summary: Rear EF AGX’s fit DA tegs. AGX’s are better than stock dimension wise. Get dust boots you wanker. No mo bouncy = good. I like 'em at 1F 3R. Cops like doughnuts. AGXs kick ass.
FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME!!! Maybe now people will believe I’m running AGX’s in the rear on my 92 with Neuspeed sport springs with out any problems! Thank you!!!
You will all think this is a really dumb question but what does DA and EF stand for? Sorry, but you can’t search for two letter acronyms in the forums.

No he wouldnt, the perches are the same height. I left my coilovers the same height and I have pretty much the same drop as before.
i have the agx’s for the front. luv em and recommend em too. im definitely set on teh ef rears. and hopefully the slight drop in the rear will level out my eibach sportlines

the sports are 1.8/1.8 right? the back didnt drop a little bit?
Nope, didn’t see a change in ride height at all. My drop is just as even as it was before. I have Neuspeed Sport Springs btw. Awesome setup! I love it. And with the ST sway bars the car handles like a damn slot car. I highly recommend this setup!!
KYB doesnt make rear AGX’s for our cars. They probably actually only make fronts for our cars becasue they are the exact same thing as an EF’s, same part # and everything.
Being a newbie is ok. Everyone has to start somewhere. I hope you learn a lot off this board, I know I have.

Hey Ben, i want to make sure they im getting the right part numbers for the EF’s
The ones ive found are
Right Rear: 741007
Left Rear: 741007 ( same as right )
im about to order them my self, i have the front set sitting here with my groundcontrol waiting to be put on, and i just want to check to see if they are the right part numbers.
Well there is the answer and proof to put an end to the EF rear AGX debate. But one question still remains…Why doesnt KYB list this as the rear part number for the DA if the EF will work???
So how low are you now Ben?
I’m running stock shocks with my H&R Race right now…but I’m definately gonna need some better shocks soon. I noticed a few people here were running the AGX’s with sport springs, but none with race springs :D. How low of a drop can they withstand?
