LED Turn Signal Relay

I ordered what was supposed to be an LED relay for my new led turn signals but my lights are still flashing rapidly. Is there a specific relay I should as a replacement or did I just get unlucky?

The one that I got (that actually fit properly) still makes them flash a little more rapidly than OEM. It’s just something I got used to. It’s not the hyper flash though.

Where did you order it from?

I don’t remember. I bought 2, but I need to see what the part # is.

Well whenever you get around to it I would greatly appreciate it.

You can see the flash rate here. I will try to get that relay ASAP.

Flasher relay: Tridon EP34

Thank you homie. Going to see where I can find it.

Is this what it looked like by chance?

It did. Now that’s odd that’s it’s saying it doesn’t fit. Crap, did they change the dimensions?!?That’s the issue I had with another one that supposedly fit: there was a notch that caused it to not seat properly.

Let me remove it to see whether there’s any identifying numbers. I’ll take some dimensions too in case they listed some there on Amazon.

To avoid hyper flashing when using LED bulbs in your blinkers, you just need to wire in a load resistor. I can’t recall where I got them. But I had to do that in order to pass my Safety Inspection.

Did you wire one in for each blinker or just to the fuse box?

You need a resistor for each blinker bulb.

DAMenace is correct with the load resistor. I just wanted to avoid wiring changes because I already have custom wiring with usual dual filament bulbs in the bumper lenses, so I got the relay. Also be aware that if you go that route, resistors get hot and your placement is critical. It depends on the quality of the resistor and how many ohms you’re using to calm the hyper flash.

Random: did you ever get this?

Yes I did. Thank you for checking in. I’m still testing out some relays. On my 91 DA I had previously, I just changed out the relay for an LED one and it fixed it. So I’m starting to wonder if it’s the plug the relay goes into. That’s not likely though cause with the relays I’ve tried so far, my 92 doesn’t even start up without the OEM one. So I might just go the resistor route.

Did it at least fit properly into the socket? (The Tridon one)

All of them have.

Okay great! I had some that did not fit but apparently it’s really hit or miss because the dimensional tolerances aren’t all that consistent.

Maybe that’s why they aren’t working. Must have got lucky on my 91 for that relay to be set up correctly
