oh, thats cool. I just figured if you were gonna do the upgrade that you wouldve gone for one of the 2 piston calipers, but its all good.
hondatuningmagazine did this mod and took 4mm from the back (knuckle) side of the caliper bracket. So why is everyone shaving the inside of the caliper bracket???
Here’s the www.hondatuningmagazine.com pics:

you can do it that way too. its just easier to do it yourself it you do the inside since it doesnt have to be exaclty flat, it just has to clear. if you do the back then it has to be perfectly flat for where it meets up. (if i understand your comment correctly)
and theres something about the piston traveling further too. its been covered in here somewhere. dunno wut page tho
It would be hard to get an angle grinder in to the inside of the caliper bracket and even more difficult to grind it all the way across.
How do machine shops grind off 1/8th"? What machine/tool are they using? Can someone recommend a good machine shop in the San Francisco Bay Area?
its very easy to get an angle grinder to where you need to grind…idk what youre trying to grind off, but it was real easy for me.
i just had the machine shop do it for me… they only charged 100 for the brackets and rotors
ok its been along time lol. the 1" Master cylinder is a direct replacement for the stock 15/16" correct? and that 1" came on GSR’s correct? thinking about getting a new master cylinder since im redoing everythig and i miht as well get the 1".
Armed Ferret recommended it i beleive.
should be good. i havent done it yet. kinda want to though, along w/ some SS brake lines
Well im in the middle of mine right now just have a few questions. How close does everyones rotor side to the inside of the mounting bracket, ive been thinking of getting some sort of spacer made up just to even the rotor. If someone could post a good pic that can give me a idea more or less of the where thier rotor is sitting also if they are running into any problems with brake noise it would be greatly appreciated.
so ive beenr eading this whole thread and im ready to do mine, but i found this on fastbrakes.com its a 11 inch prelude rotor for early ludes that were 4x100, could u just get this and not have to drill any new holes obviously? just putting it out there thanks
what pads work with this upgrade, from what that honda tuning article said, the NSX pads will work too. does anyone know if this is true?
also where have yall been sourcing your calipers from?
and one last thing, will the rotors from a 97+ prelude work?
Heres my legend 2 piston calipers with redrilled legend GS rotor.
BMKISBMX,
The only rotors that I have been able to find for the early Preludes were 262mm rotors. They were for the 91 SI and they were 4x100. Can get these anywhere really, but they are not 11", and I am not sure of the offset.
squidly_racer
thanks man i checked to got uto zone to show me one o those prelude rotors and yea ur right they r 4x100 but only a 10 inch or whatever rotor, BUt i stumbled across a set of type R calipers and drilled rotors on ebay so i just got them, bc it was easier,
squidly–if you want 11" rotors you need to either buy the redrilled ones from fastbrakes or buy 95 prelude vtec rotors and have a shop redrill them to 4x100.
at one time i was set up to do it but it ends up costing a little more than fastbrakes, simply because i don’t buy in the volume he does.
just looking around i was looking on fastbrakes.com and noticed they have this http://fastbrakes.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=28_44_124&products_id=404 is this the same thing? as the thread just already done?
i was looking online and found a s2000 brake kit for 90-01 integra exept type-r. the rotors are re-drilled 4x100 and and comes with pads and 11.8" rotors says it clears 16in wheels and most 15’s would this fit our cars? and its all oem parts. just curious about this i saw.
2nd–the link you posted is for the single-piston ITR/Accord V6 calipers, not the 2-piston legend GS sedan calipers.
well i saw the whole kit for 600 on there and figured that was the setup already to go.? so whats the right parts from that site then?
Where did you see that S2000 kit for sale at? My buddy did that same conversion. I believe the calipers are the same ones that Mugen uses.
