looking for a mild turbo setup for stock LS

I was thinking and i want to just run a LS-T but i was a mild set up and i want to use as much stock parts as possible because this is also a daily driver that really gets around.

What are some reconmendations? (sp?)

i tryed searching and im not getin the answer i seek.

1993 LS with stock internals with mild bolt on turbo = ???

TIA

My parts list for this, done cheaply would probally read something like …

Log manifold , with external port
Tial 35/38mm Wastegate
T3 60 trim .63 A/R off Merkur XR4Ti
450cc DSM Injectors
Walbro 255lph
Chipped ECU and TurboEdit/Chrome/Uberdata
Custom chargepipes from whatever
Johnny Race car FMIC or Starion/EVO
1G DSM BOV
2.5" DP

Tap for Feed and drain and be done …

Tuned well this should be good for 220WHP/190TQ

To do it the right way , rear “more exspensive”

Love-Fab Mini Me , or a Ramhorn
SC61 w/S cover .63 A/R
Precesion 600HP IC
Tial 35/38mm
Tial 50mm BOV
Precesion 880 Injectors
Aeromotive FPR
JG Fuel Rail
Walbro 255
Custom 2.5" IC piping
Chrome/Neptune for tunning

Tap for feed and drain …

This setup will push the limits of the stock bottom end and surpass them when you want it too . With a stock motor I would expect 275WHP/250TQ@13lbs … With a sleeved Motor and a VTEC head the same setup would do 600WHP without a doubt …

I suggest doing it right the first time and going with Option B if you have the money . It will pay dividends in the long run …

THANK YOU THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!

Merkur…arent those nothing but euro fords???

do they come with a cosworth turbo??

i want a small set up because i get harrassed alot by cops in my area…street racing is big $$$ over here.

but im just trying to get something of a feel for turbo…hence the reason i dont want a power monster. But i do have one more question…can i safely run 87 octan or must the points be raise? if this can run 87 then this is the Ideal set up for me.

im a turbo nooB but i do know my way around the engine bay here and there. =D

You would need to run Premium Fuel only on a stock bottom end turbo Honda …

Detonation kills motors , and running 87 will definately contribute to that …

Yes the Merkur is a Euro Ford … You can also use the Mustang SVO Turbo , as it is the same thing … Make sure it is a 5spd model though as the Auto’s have smaller Trim T3’s …

I agree with spl dan

Check www.prostreetonline.com they have the turbo specialties kit for like 1500.00 no IC.

How much power you want is the ?

I disagree…no one in there right mind would run a sc61 on a stock LS bcause of alittle thing called lag. you would hate life. the ls head flows like shit, so when your trying to spool a huge turbo it wont like it. my old stock ls set up was:

sfp manifold
2.5" flared to 3" dp
greddy type 24 fmic
880 simen deka injectors
t3/t04e 60trim
etc

the first motor made 304whp and 270wtq at 14.5psi (the motor gernaded the oil pump n i spun a bearing) but this motor had 150k miles give or take

the second one had 60k miles n made 282whp at 11.5psi (then i had a boost spike on the highway one night…28psi on a stock motor = bye bye)

I disagree … I personally have seen an SC61 with an S cover on a STOCK motored LS …

Its not laggy at all , a friend of mine , if he punches it from a 3rd/4th gear roll from 40 it instantly gets 2-3lbs and climbs quite quickly … I have datalogged a full 13lbs on his motor at 4100 RPM … IMO thats not laggy at all .

As a wise man once said “If you have Turbo lag , you aint driving it right !”

If you want to be anal about it you could use an SC34 or SC50 I suppose . … I wouldnt though , then again my motor’s 84mm and Doesnt have the crappy LS head .

you mind putting the datalog up so i can see? my t04e would had 14psi full boost by 4500 rpms or so…thats a stage3 rear…i dont really see a stage 5 spooling faster. unless he had some baller full race equal length manifold and even then that doesnt seem right

im running a t3/t4 57 trim(basically sc34) on my bone stock ls. it builds 8 psi in the low to mid 4000 range. i mated this to a gsr tranny, so when im running it hard i never have any lag

Are you on Home | Thomson Reuters do you drive? There arn’t many turbo DA’s in the area… stock LS w/ sc61: if your talking about ICS on TR.com he had JE pistons on cyro treated LS rods, blew up with a spike of 30+lbs.

i guess i should explain the type of power im looking for…

im not into racing much unless its a track kinda deal but i do want that nice low-mid spool just the thrill of acceleration is enough for me…top speed is not sumthing im hoping to achieve again… i got the car to 125-127mph and thats fast enough. :stuck_out_tongue:

for nice spool, run a smaller turbo(t3, t25, t28, 16g) with a log manifold.

I have it from a very unreliable source that the SC61 and SC34 are nearly identical when it comes to spool times and flow output.

Me personally, I have an SC34 57 trim on a B18b and I see full 10psi at or near 4000 rpms no problem.

The car has the Stage 5 T350 exhuast side on a Full-Race turbo setup minus the T3/T67 …

This is not ICS . I know ICS personally as I did half of the tunning on his ld setup … His motor now has Eagles adn CP’s @ 81.5mm … I have a couple of his datalogs on the old setup i’ll try to get to you Xenercon … I belive he made the full 16.5lbs he was running previously with the JE’s at around 4500 or so …

xenocron- are you running a .63 exahust a/r?

if i went with a T28 would i need a I/C?

and would that be better then Water cooled?
and lastly (prolly a no answer) but would any mild turbo pass smogg? I am in california u know =\

yeah, i believe it is the .63

archivethis it could be nooB useful =]

so do i need a FMIC if i run a small turbo like a t28 or 14g?
