ls or gsr boost build

i have a new eagle knife edge lightened ls crank, eagle h-beam ls rods and a full ls and full gsr engine… i want to build a nice engine for boost… i know a gsr head on ls block sucks for n/a but how about for boosted engines? and i can rob the oil pump, pick up tube, main bolts and girdle for the ls block and throw gsr head on? and run low compression vtec pistons? or would i be better off just building full ls? any help would be great

Build the GSR, or throw the GSR head on the LS block and go LSV. Don’t build the LS if you have both an LS and GSR.

i was thinkin bout putting the gsr head on the ls block… is there much structure or integrity difference between ls block and gsr? or should i throw the ls crank in the gsr block… but my rods are for ls not gsr so i would have to get new ones if i went that route

Yah so go LSV, and just put the LS crank in the GSR and the LS rods will be fine. If you go LSV you need a LSV conversion kit too but that’s not more than like $100-$150 without a headgasket.

hmm… so ls crank and rods in gsr block and get conversion kit which is mainly dowel pins and oil feed line for head correct? how would that work if i already tapped into the oil pressure line for the turbo feed line? would i need to get like an oil filter sandwich plate or would another t off that line work? definitely dont wanna damage new engine or turbo… and block the oil squirters aswell? thanks again for your help btw

Yea what IntegraC said. Use the Eagle crank and rods in the GSR. In a sense it’s still an LS-V but nobody would know unless you told them that you had LS crank and rods inside. There isn’t any extra work involed like you would have to do LS-V either. But whatever you decide to do good luck with your build.

no doubt… just had brain fart lol wouldnt need a new place to tap for head or conversion if building the gsr… my bad and thanks for the help guys… but i heard sometimes the crank can hit the oil squirters in the gsr block… should i try to keep or just cap them off???

Let us know how it turns out.

Why exactly does a GSR head on an LS block suck for NA? Seems you need to do some looking around first. Anyway.

Just go with an lsvtec setup with, pistons and rods. Pretty much what has already been said above.
There are some powerful LS setups however I am still not a fan, a good rule of thumb can be to look at how many high hp LS setups have you seen…
