b18a1 block with 150k…stock internals
rebuilt gsr head…stock cams

i was hoping to go turbo with this kind of set-up… I have 310cc injectors and UGR cam gears (skunk2 replicas) on the side. for the block, what kind of set-up am i looking at? do i need to go low compression with after-market pistons and rods? i’m looking at to push 7-8 psi, daily driven if possible.
the block can handle 300hp. however since your ls-vtec you should at least get arp rod bolts and a bottom end rebuild. but usually when you do that you get some forged pistons and rods since your block is apart. you’ll need bigger injectors also at least 440cc.
it would be better to list your whp goal, budget, and purpose. you’ll get a more accurate answer.
well…i was hoping to push at least 300whp for now, i work a lot and tend to spend my money a lot when does not involve cars. i would love to beat an evo hopefully at launch and top end but i rarely race on the freeway…i maxed out m car like less than 10 times and i had this car for more than a year.
for pistons should i go low compression? i dont really understand the set-up of ls-v builds that much except LS-Turbo…low compression and LS-V high compression…
what u can do is switch to a b16 head which will drop the CR to a more boost safe level. but really if your only going for 8psi the setup have can work it just matters on the tune and tuner
well, i got this gsr head for free complete from a close friend. dont really want to change it now cuz i barely got everything in…what kind of pistons am i looking at?
keep the gsr head. get some 8.5-9:1 forged pistons with some forged rods and you’ll be good.
should i rebuild the block?
without a doubt. either way, you dont really have a choice if your changing the pistons and rods. unless your REALLY ghetto and keep your original crank bearings. but thats unheard of.
just curious, how strong is ctr pistons with b16 head with ctr cams? i heard its a monster on the streets and can take turbos and nitrous easily. he has a dumptube??? what is this dumptube? all i know is that vtec is louder
a dumptube is the pipe that connects to the wastegate. unless your turbo setup is complete shit, or your running like a gt25 at >5 psi, it’ll beat any n/a setup.
