Mini's 91 RS Build

Harness bars and mounting your belts to your rear strut bar are not safe…and your friend got lucky, I’m glad he made it out of the crash.

:werd:

btw… silvia went boom boom pow.

Hareness bars arent safe? What would you reccomend then?

Wha? got it running and it blew?

A full cage and if not, go for a roll bar.

@SOL1D and others.

I believe they state that the problem is far passed.

I guess I’ll just have to wait until I get my roll cage in then. I thought it would be nice to use the harness for my training…would be nice. But I guess I’ll wait. pleh!

7 1/2 days and I’ll be training to get my race license yay! :smiley:

Sweet !!! Good luck on the training, I’d love to hear how it goes :slight_smile:

Where you going for your first event?

if you really want a harness without a roll bar/cage, your best bet is a schroth rallye 3 or rallye 4. These are the only street legal dot approved harnesses sold right now. They mount to your rear seat belt mount points so don’t require any kind of bar. You can check with your NASA region first to make sure they allow them. I know in the midwest NASA region they are allowed (from what I read in the NASA forums).

Thanks! I def will share my great day of sitting in the car all day. haha I’m really excited though since it is my first time and I’m finally starting on my license. Ill get some pics up also.

PPIR is the first one. The second one is May 1st and 2nd which is at PMP and at the end of the month theres going to be one at HPR. HPR is the one I’m waiting to go to but I’m hoping I’ll be able to go since I have surgery on the 18th. Not sure if I’ll be able to race by then. cross fingers.

Thanks! I already have the harness though. My bf got new ones so I can use them now but I’m going to eventually get a cage in I just thought a harness bar for temp right now until I get my cage in would be nice. Do you have those in yours?

:clap: we want lots of pics Lay Dee :slight_smile:

Umm, I hope you aren’t using a harness without rollover protection. Also remember that the harness has to be mounted in I think a maximum of a 45 degree angle, or was it 20 degrees? I think it’s like 45 degrees if you are not mounting on a bar/cage and and 20 degrees if you are.

Blk: Will try! :smiley: probably no inside the car while driving pics though. or vids. But I will have the pics that my fellow cool members will take for me :D.

Lost: No…I’m just going to wait until I get my full roll cage before I run the harness. Well for now that’s what I’m doing.

Not Much Of An Update:

So I finally got assigned my number. Which happened to be my first out of three choices :smiley: 87 = Mini the Fast Master lol. (thats my name for my go-kart card) so yesterday I picked up my numbers. Which I’m going to just use magnets until probably next year. I couldn’t find any large magnet numbers and I didn’t want to get stickers cause I don’t want to leave those numbers on my car all the time either that or peel them off and get new ones everytime. so I got magnet sheets got stencils and a couple big black stickers. I’ll probably be doing that tonight.

I also got a new battery to install on the car, odessy :smiley: do an oil change probably on friday or saturday night and put my summer wheels and tires back on. That should probably complete my tech form that I gotta submit in the day of the race. That is all.

Good Luck!

Thank you :smiley: I had an awesome time. And of course learned alot. I’ll update with pics when I get some catching up on homework, cleaning and messages etc. :smiley: Hope everyones doing good! Weathers starting to look real nice. Play safe!

:clap:

Just did some homework and thought I should take a break. So I uploaded my pics from yesterday, the night before and a couple nights before that. I had a blast. ENJOY!.

Prep Time: Got a new battery and had the bf make me a battery tie down to complete my tech form. And the second one is the night before just doing last minuete check ups and fluid inspections. Sorry these pics are from my phone, made my car look orange.

These are from sunday 4/11. They’re with my instructor as passenger and me. ( p.s. he is a great instructor! ). I couldn’t get one picture to upload for some reason. But this is it. My numbers didn’t want to stay on very well half of the day because it was pretty chilly so I had to tape the damn things on…but here was my day. I had a total of 4, 20 minuet runs. My car also held up for 2 people. My bfs race car was torn apart so he signed up to drive my car in a different class. So the car had 8, 20 minuet runs total. From 8 am to 5 pm. She was a trooper. I love my car.

So it was a two day event. I only went on sunday though. I had about 10 people in my class and from what I heard that saturday it was a much larger group.

Mini, that is just badass. Thumbs up to you!

I love your car as well. Wish I could say I can join you. I dunno, even after my Teg is done I will probably have a multitude of excuses. I am starting to think that I am a hardparker at heart lol.

Anyways keep it up, after school ends if you needed a pit crew I would help. THough most of the guys around here are smart enough to not call me when car work is being done. ONe of these days…I WILL figure out which end of the wrench is the handle and which end actually does the work. Hrmmm.

:rockon::rockon::rockon:

Looks Like you had a great time lay dee, Hopefully Ill be able to make the HPR event:cross:
