Mods on an LS B18A???

which mods are worth doing on an LS B18A daily driver???

such as: (I have all these but haven’t installed them)

USED Skunk2 IM (the first one - NOT pro series)
USED DC Sports Header (Stainless Steel 4-2-1)

NEW Skunk2 front strut bar

USED MSD SCI-L
NEW MSD Power Cap
NEW MSD SS Blaster coil
NEW MSD wires
NEW NGK Iridium plugs

USED Motegi 17" MR7’s in silver (I heard 15" are better for speed though)

any and all feedback would be much appreciated!!

especially if there’s anything that I haven’t listed that would be worth getting!

those parts you listed are pretty expensive,you could probably do a swap for the same amount of money

found the DC header used on ebay

I think it was around $200 - I don’t remember for sure

lighten your load, forget the msd stuff. if you use a dc header…use the 4-1 integra type r header with the 2.5 collector(it takes a little work to make this one work)…seems like you could use some cams…maybe some headwork…fuel rail and pressure regulator maybe send your injectors to rc or buy some 310s… balance the lower end. i mean it really depends on where you want to go here…if i were you and had spent all this money…why not swap? or boost…maybe?..engine management system…
I mean the 17’s look good…thats what i have for street wheels…but if you want good all around wheels go with a 15*7(volks, ssr, team dynamics, regamasters, gram lights, and 5zigen are nice) 225/50/15 and get them with a good enough offset that you can get some spoon calipers(and make sure you use a type r or gsr master cylinder) in there.:bow:

the setup you have is fine for dd and some spirited driving…
if you want to add more to your setup you first need to decide what you want in you power goal and what you’re using it for…

well everyones view of a daily driver is different:giggle:

but yes some general goals would be a start

megan have bigger primaries
megan is almost if not idenical to it and does not crack at 1/3 the price

i say add a header and exhaust (RS*R) and b16 tranny along with the mods you have now and you’ll have a fun daily driver. a tower brace would help out also

did you read my whole thread?..you are right…they arent necessary at all…thats also why i said what i did right before that…but at the same time its not totally outlandish either.

btw…soontobe…megan sucks…and so does the 4-2-1 dc for our cars.

how do you know…seen dynos?..for the 4-2-1 i agree…i put them on the same level…and you are right for a 100 bucs if all you ever plan on doing is point a to point b driving then yeah, but in that case why swap…why boost…hell why do anything to the car…just thought the guy wanted some honest opinions so thats what i gave…honestly spend the money and time…get some good headers…if you want the number to a good header guy hit me up.

I dont mean to sound like and asshole but my injector idea is about the same as putting a 6al on an otherwise factory car simply not necessary. Will you agree?

Put simply, you’re at a good point for a daily driver. Ditch the ignition box, and hold off on the intake manifold till you get the cams. (try crower) After that, get some engine managment or a good, custom built chip (superchips) to tune all that goodness; and GET IT TO A DYNO!!! Tune all that shit and you got a bad ass daily driver. I’d get 15s though. Just my take on things.

I wouldn’t say it’s pointless, a G2ICer told me he has 174whp on his b18a1. You just have to do the work. The major upside to building ur b18 is that YOU ALREADY HAVE IT. You can do N/A upgrades a little at a time too. You have to have a majority of the pieces before u can do a swap. Besides, you already have a SHITLOAD of goodies. USE THEM! You’ll see what can happen. Sure, you won’t have VTEC; but the YS1 is pretty torque happy.

my problem is that I don’t know HOW to do the work and even if I did, I don’t have the place to do it or the tools…

what is a YS1?? and how much more money am I gonna have to spend to make it worth it?! If the exhaust system is the only thing I can do right now with what I have that will make any difference (having spent over $600 for that alone) and it will only make 2-5 more hp than stock - how is that even worth it?! 2-5hp for $600+ seems like a big waste:shrug:
