Mods on an LS B18A???

I may have been a little hard, but ive owned five integs, and I kinda know what to do and not to do. I hate it when I see people blow there money on dumb shit that they think will make there car fast.

I’m with you on that. I’m doing most work DIY & as said I have a 3yr old so money gets tight. So what kind of short geared tranny & why specifically? I’ve been searching for a bit now & haven’t gotten any good results. In all honesty, if your setup is more cost effective, then I’m willing to try it.

I still stand by my statements of " if you have it then why not", but I don’t have the parts so I can’t use them! LOL :burnout: :manual:

I’m definetly going Daily Driver on mine, w/ a hoped 160hp to the wheels. Reliability is key for me, & cost is dead 2nd.

Oh, and you’re right, I haven’t done much work on a teg, but civics are a resounding “hell yes!!” If your setup is proven on tegs, then I am a little partial to it. How long/ how many times have you ran this setup? Any ETs?

any short geared cable tranny s1,y1,ys1,(theres one more, but cant think of it now:think: ) but be carefull on the s1 and ys1, they both came in a long geared and short geared version. The ys1 from a 92-93 gsr has the shortest gearing of the all, but hard to find and very $$$. Ive had a lot of luck finding short geared s1’s, they have cost me anywhere from $300-450 and have been really lucky. All the trannys i have bought over the years have been in really great shape, but be carefull I know people that have bought them as a short geared, but they got scammed it turned out to be a longgeared(LS). And you will notice a diff, but I worn you at 65mph in 5th gear, you will be at ~3750rpm or 4000 right at 70mph, so most people will swap out an LS/long geared tranny 5th gear for the short geared one, but ive never done that because it makes me keep my speed down(to many tickets) and your right in the power band if you want to bone the F out.

Cool, thanks for the info. I was thinkin of just going w/ an Exedy stage 1 clutch, Type R flywheel, Neuspeed short shifter w/ bushings, & a good tranny cooler on my long geared YS1. What do you say about that? Shorter geared sounds sweet, but how streetable is it? I know my 1st gear is hella short already; so how does the short geared tranny compare?

I’m not too keen on trannies, I just know what parts worked for me & my friends in the past. (on stock tranny that is.) Would the shorter YS1 still be better?

Also, what about adding Crower 402s or 403s to your setup, along w/ skunk2 Ti retainers?

Thanks for the input. I’ve been contemplating this setup more & more, as both of them are in basis the same. (both focus on air & upgrading parts more than anything.) The difference lies in OEM/aftermarket vs. almost total aftermarket; & you mention a tranny swap while I say machine work. But as I said earlier, I haven’t had a bunch of experience with DAs, & if youve had this many (5 plus?) on this setup w/ great results & others have too; then I’m inclined to it. Aftermarket can be great, but if you have a more OEM route, then it seems sweeter to me ( and cheaper too.)

Lastly, I hope all this helps the more important person here: btlancaster.
As you can see bro, there are alot of ways to get what you’re after. Just gotta be ready to do your homework & get dirty, or pay someone to do it all for you. Mainly it’s homework. It’s key. Look @ this shit now. I’m thinkin of laserplanes route now, knowing mine is quite effective also.

But whatever you do, put your heart into it, & make it your own. It’s not about the best stuff or the fastest car, it’s about the time, money, headaches, joys, triumphs, & the “I told you I’d do it.” Thats what makes it worthwhile. Oh well, I’m gonna “get studying” now. LOL :burnout: :manual:

Oh yeah, J1 is the last short geared tranny you mentioned.

well if your just going to do DD and if you want to race people on the freeway get SI head… i dont know how much but you can just save up like 300, 400, 500

We already went over that, w/ the conclusion being that it isn’t just the head. You gotta at least get the golden eagle kit & a few other goodies to get it right. Plus, he doesn’t know how to do it, so shop time & labor come into play. :burnout: :manual:

Hey Chris (INTGRA2NER)!!

What’s up?! I’ve emailed you about your offer to help, but you don’t reply. Is your offer still good or what?! Which shop is it? I’m willing to put up some cash or make you a deal on those MR7’s if you want 'em. I’ll also throw in the B&M short shifter when we put the Skunk2 on.

lmk,
Brett

I’ve been doing alot of reseach on a header now and was wonering what would be the loudest header? and what do most of you guys have the Ceramic Coated Header or the Stainless Steel Header? Thanks in advance!
