Howdy y’all. Never had a build thread and I’ve put in a little work on my car lately, so I figured I’d share it with y’all. And hopefully this thread helps focus my thoughts/goals a bit.
So this is my 6th DA/DB, I still currently own two others (one will be donating some parts to this build/getting sold, and the other will get it’s own thread when it’s time comes ), but the first car I’ve attempted painting. I’ll definitely be doing plenty of reading up, and no corners will be cut! The main goal for this build is to have something reliable, something that will last a long time with minimal maintenance, and last but not least something that is just stupid fast! That last one is important since I’ve never had anything more than a B20z to call quick, lol. Not looking to hit a 10sec quarter, but having something that’s competitive at both Bandimere (drag) and High Plains (road course) will be a requisite.
On to the car. So I do a lot of Craigslist browsing and like to check out other cities nearby incase something good pops up. Not really looking for a car, but always surfing the
Cars/Trucks section, I came across this piece in the Ft. Collins CL. It was listed as a VTEC model 92 Integra for $350. Thinking it was somehow a typo, I figured I wouldn’t hurt to call and see if it was. After a brief talk with the owner, I make an appointment to go check it out the next day. Go out to look at the car, and the poor thing was left in a field to rot. Had a decent look at it and wasn’t real impressed right off the bat, but could tell there had been a decent amount of monies put in to it. Story on it was that he had a tire shop put some wheels on, they over torqued the studs, two of them broke off while he was driving and the front driver’s wheel fell off so it had been sitting in the
field for almost 6months. It also a body kit installed previously, so the rocker panels are in pretty rough shape. Told dude I’d call him back the next day after I slept on it. On
the way home was thinking about it, and came to the conclusion that this was definitely a good buy. Called and offered him $325, said I could pick it up the next morning. He bit, and I went up the next morning with driver’s knuckle, spare tire (Thanks a bunch for those Robbie!), and some tow straps. Swapped the knuckle on and towed it down to my buddy’s house in NGC. Thanks for the help with that Craig, ha!
How I found it (the guy wanted to keep the front bumper, hahaha). In a field, on some farm/business almost a mile in from the road

Me swapping crap out:
After we got it to my friend’s house I started tearing into it, and really found out how much I really came up on this. :). The nasty rat crap infested interior was immediately
ripped out, and right off the bat the unneeded parts were pulled and sold:
Ebay headlights: +$60
SAFC: +$100
MSD Digital: +$125
Blues with Skunk coilovers: +$200
Which leaves me with a profit of almost $200, PLUS an entire DB2 to mess around with! It also came with an OG Greddy front strut bar that I’ll most likely keep. Needless to say I was definitely stoked I had picked it up!
Here’s how it looked before I started tearing into it:

Well, all of that took place between May and June, and unfortunately it sat untill this year. I decided to downsize my DA collection, and get rid of the daily to put that monies
into some paint supplies, so that’s when the motivation began. A couple weeks ago I went over to where the car is, got the rest of the suspension off and cut down the stupid 5" muffler. Looks like I’ll have plenty of 3" to do my exhaust! Next on the list will be pulling the gas tank, fuel lines (to replace the rockers), all the brake lines (including the ones that go to the rear), engine/transmission, rest of the interior, trim/moldings, glass, start cleaning the underside so it can get recoated.
I had to rob the front brakes for my daily :D, and also tried to get it started:
Had 2x4s as rear shocks in this picture, ha
Check out the gigantic super cool muffler, lulz:
