Sorry if I hijacked your thread. What steps did you use to paint your block? Is it recommended to do all the machine work first then paint it. I have my block resurface but haven’t hone it yet.
Your fine man. I would do the machine work first because the machine shop might use a high heat high pressure washer that might create chips in the paint. As far as prep work I used a wire wheel and my drill to get 90% of the grime off then went with a small wire brush for the small hard to reach areas. Basically scuff it up and have a clean surface. I used brake cleaner along with the brushes and that worked quite well. If you choose to you can use a high heat primer but I didn’t and it’s not necessary. Clean it before the machine shop and paint after you get it back. That’s what I did. Since you already resurfaced or decked your block, tape off the surface so you don’t accidentally slip and scratch the surface. Also before painting make sure all matting surfaces are taped off.
update… got it all together and dynoed. here are the pics of assembly and it being together…
head was painted as well
installing full race traction bar
front end back on
on to the dyno
this was open header btw
took it to the track last night only ran 3 times with this being the final and best. first run was 15.7 second was 16.2 with me missing 3rd pretty good and having a shitty launch with no traction. i know i can probably get a 15 flat or better with more seat time. ran open header. i will post up the dyno vid and track vid of the 15.2 once youtube finishes uploading them

also put on my accord lip that i had from my 94 cd5 from when i switched the bumper to the facelifted version (96 -97)
Very nicely done!
Thanks i really appreciate that. I put the accord sideskirts back on today. When i first got the car they didnt really care and pretty much slapped em on. I had to cut them right and now it looks 100x better. I’ll update with pics tomorrow as im bout to go to work
Looks like my DA with LS meshs lol. All your missing is mudflaps
Nice work on the hood
Thanks. Been busy alot lately. Getting ready for the final drags for the season which is tomorrow night. Last drags i ran a best of 15.080 on these shitty street tires peddling 1st and not getting great traction. I port matched my itr intake mani (was 64mm) to my 70 mm throttle body. That should be for some nice gains. Also running slicks this time and hoping for mid 14s lol. Also replaced my leaking valve stem seals and stripped the heli coils that were in the block. ( worst thing to use when repairing stripped threads) so tuesday i had a shop put in time serts (cost me 224 not including new head gasket) and got it running good now.
Outstanding job! Really like the work in the engine bay.
I wonder if anyone has stock dyno sheets to compare?
Probably not. But i know a stock b18a1 usually on a good day will do 130 to the wheels
so after the port match and running slicks at the final midnight drags of the season, my first pass was a 14.5. second was 14.4 with a 2.0 60ft. i didnt have a good ending as a screw backed itself out on the map sensor caused shitty idle and then my coil burnt out. had to get towed back home and fixed it mid of last week with a new coil rotor and cap.
what did you use on the hood
