My b16 turbo build: almost done

Here is pretty much my set-up that I will be running in the next few months.

a few more:

I also have a 255walbro and some DSM 450’s. All I need now is for my buddy to chip my ECU,order the Moates Epromer,Borrow my freinds wideband(AEM), and tune it. I want 300whp so If I need to run more than 12psi I will have to order some bigger injectors and run a 3bar map sensor. I would like to be the 1st to run 300+ using BRE and a engine management.

wish me luck.

if you beat me to 300 on bre, i’ll be mad at you  !!! Lol, jk. I was actually hoping to be the first to exceed 300 with my lsvtec setup on bre, but I got a month or two left yet before mine’s done.

btw, i ordered the moates ostrich rommulator a week ago from xenocron, and its on backorder I guess. Hopefully will be getting mine soon tho :cross:

Hooray for the shitty drag mani…i have one too…its built heavily though, which is always good. Boost creep is better than manifold cracking! (ssac)

yeah my goal is to go turbo this year. I plan on building the motor over the winter and hopefully runing a diffrent turbo, mani, and DP.

whats your setup Da1spaz247??

ls/vtec
srp pistons
eagle rods
gsr cams
arp head studs
block guard
gsr girdle
obx lsd
t3/to4b turbo
ssac manifold/downpipe
msd blaster coil
walboro 255lph

and some other little miscellaneous goodies. Thats what I got so far, still need some things as you can see.

thats a great setup. Have you read the post on the Obx LSD??? Im going to be running open DP. I custom fabed mine today. All I need it to send my ecu off to Ben and have him chip it with the tdosc61 bin. Im going to go from there. Ill keep ya post…and you do the same.

what kind of injectors are you going to run??

Depending how much money i have to play with as I near the end of my parts list, I may go with some dsm 440’s, or whatever 550’s I can get the best deal on, be it rc engineering, precision, or whatever. I’ve read a lot of reviews on the obx lsd from a lot of different places. Everything I read indicated that people that actually used them had no complaints, other than some people having trouble removing their axles, which can be remedied somehow, I’ll have to look it up again. The people who disliked them were usually people who had an itr one already or a quife and just didnt like obx as a company. Also, I just got my ostrich yesterday, so they might not be on back order anymore.

The local guys over here in Raleigh had problems with theres. They said that they had to cut away at the axles to get them removed.

dood yeah. Bothof you break 300whp. Then break 400whp. BRE is definately capable. And if I have to write a little more code to get there thats fine too. I know at least some stuff needs to be written for giant injectors…

Ben

^ This is why Ben Ogle is the sickest guy ever!!!

My goal is 400hp, and It’ll be running no later than two months from now.

btw Ben, I’m still running that stock b18a off of your pwo boost code, adjusted for the 320cc injectors and 1834 displacement and I have no probs whatsoever (just the occasional o2 code, but you already no about that). I can’t wait till I have a little time to play around with my new ostrich.

Awsome man, Keep up the great work.

I odered my B16A swap from HMO last tuesday,
This week I’m pullin my motor and cleanin the bay and swappin in the B16

I have a couple of questions.

What type of Hose is that Black flexible hose?
Is that ok to use or as good as Piping?
or is it just temp. untill you fab up piping?
Where can I get more info on the Hose?

ANd if yo dont mind. What is your complete setup and the cost which you have spent.

Thanks!

I got lucky. I went to the local junk yard and found it on a turbo dsm. I have a few left if you wanted to buy them?? hit me up…

I too want to eventually hit 400whp. Thats my goal. At the I should be happy. But I need to build my motor 1st.

these 90 are staying up there. there not soft. Good to see ya abourd ben…when do you think you will make a code for the 700cc injectors. There next on my list as well as a 3bar map sensor.

id upgrade to a 2-2.5inch vibrant 90 elbow instead of using those boost leakin’ DSM devil couplers! (more than one DSM part on anycar is VERY bad luck!)
other than that the car/set up looks fantastic

what are you talking about???these pipes are 1/8 of an inch thick. I used them on my lude and I had no problem with them. there not radiator hose and im not swicthing to a 2.5 coming of the hot side. I like to keep the piping the same size as the compressor housing. I’ve ran 2.5 piping off the compressor housing before and it spools up later. Im sticking with the 2". thanx for your input.

is there a reason u dididnt run the compressor on the passenger side?

well hey, not trying to sound like a jerk hating on ur DSM couplers…
but i have a buncha DSM friends and with the super cool homemade boost leak detector 9/10 times there is a leak from a soft DSM cold pipe…
you could easily get a small length of piping and a 2 foot section of 4 ply silicon coupler and never have to worry… not never but u kno.
as for a later spool I highly doubt there would be any difference if at all…

more space for the compressor housing is why I like it on the driver side. I plan on upgrading the turbo later. Also you have to shave the block for the turbo to fit. I always liek to be diffrent so I tryed it. I also figured it would be easier to run the piping from the turbo to the intercooler.

Bigger intercooler piping does change the characteristics of how the car react into and out of boost. Like I said I know. these intercooler piping are going no where. If you take a look at them you can clearly see that they are not going to leak. Its not soft piping at all. Maybe your mistaking. You can see that the piping is durable. why spend unessasary money when it doesnt need to be replaced.
