my car is missing

Well I was driving my car the other day just seeing how it was running on a basemap. I then got on it up to about 5000 rpm and it busted up like it was detonating. I got off it but it was missing when it was idling and under a load like a hill. Checked all the plugs but it was still missing on the #1 cylinder, so I thought it was ethier the headgasket or the valve. After taking the head off I really dont see anything wrong with either. Let me know if anyone else has had this problem or if you know what this is.

Thanks

the more info. about your set-up, the better. besides a basemap is just that. you shouldn’t be trying to tear down on a basemap. get it properly tuned. what are your rings gapped at? what boost levels? it’s hard to say when you can’t even tell us your set-up.

Well the setup is a bone stock ls with a garret t3/to4e .57trim, tial 38mm wastegate “with 7lb spring” , revhard manifold, open 2.5’’ downpipe, 2.5’’ ic piping, hks ssqv bov, dsm blue top 450cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, gm 3 bar map, after tune I’m going to turn the boost up to 14lbs. It is a 92 model so im obd1 so the base map is off crome. Hoping for 310hp at 14lbs,and before anyone starts hating and saying that its not going to hold save your breath. This is not my first tubo car or turbo honda.

what are your spark plugs gapped at and witch ones are you using?

Bone stock LS, your asking for trouble at 14PSI.

psi is irrelevant. hp is what determines the life of the engine. and its been done and said over and over again that a stock b series can handle 300hp. and funny enough i believe it. theres one parked in my driveway at the moment.

OOPS for redtegra…14PSI on that 57 trim can be asking for trouble. I used to have that turbo on my LS. sorry I had to break it down for you. that’s great you have one in your driveway, so… do you want a cookie?

as long as your compression is where it needs to be and your tune is on point, it should be OK. I bent a rod on 2 engines back in the day with 12PSi on that same turbo. tune was perfect, just too abusive I guess.

i guess some people are more lucky then others. either way, im not to familiar with that turbo so i wont pretend i know. ive just seen a shit load of stock ls-t setups pushing 300hp without any problems.

why is it trouble with that turbo then??

I meant that for the power level he’s going for and no build, just using his stock stuff, it can be done but don’t expect it too last long IF you beat on it…and that’s pretty much what I did with mine. but to whatever he wants is on him. I had fun beating on 2 LS motors to death. it cost me nothing, just labor in putting in another one.
