I put mine in 2 days ago. I went to a local junk yard and they had about 20 tauruses with good cup holders, and thats here in tiny Spokane, so you guys should be able to find one. Mine cost $13 after tax and I probably could have got the guy down on the price but I didnt try. If you cant find any at your junk yard then I can send one your way for $13 + shipping.
I had to do a lot of cutting and grinding. First off, I cut all four tray ends off the back because they hit a little plate that runs down behind the stereo (stock, the holders are 8" and you can only fit around 7-1/2" back there). Dont worry, the little trays wont fall out. Then I shaved off the little thing on the bottom that the holder slides on to (on the fords). that made it easier to slide into the dash. I wanted mine to sit flush with the dash (like the tray thing I took out) so I had to cut off the little tabs on both sides, they are right behind the lip on the right and left side and theres 3 on each side (you’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it). I just used a hack saw, but be careful not to cut into the case. Next I shaved off the top lip/flange so it was flush with the case (like the tray) and shaved the sides down to the outsides of the holes. I dont think you have to shave the bottom (I did but theres a little gap). I popped off the clips on the sides because I figured it would be a huge pain to take the cup holders out if I ever needed to. A little screw driver does a nice job. the last thing I did, after taking out and putting in the holders about 10 times and having the coin holder bind up, was shave off these little bumps of plastic on the bottom, right behind the flange. There are two of them and they’re about 1/2" long and maybe a 1/16" tall; just shave them down flush with a knife. Then stick the holders in your dash and there is no more working the clutch with a pop can between your legs.
Pop cans fit fine, they sometimes hit the stereo but oh well. I havent tried a fountain soda cup yet but they might not fit because the top of the dash (where the climate control stuff is) jets out. I can say that you’re definately not going to get a big gulp in there.
Hey I went and bought some too. One question, could you take a picture with the cup holder whole assembly out and take pictures of the rear so I can see how much u had to shave off and the tabs you were talking about?? I’m going to do this in a few days, but would like a reference too.
Yah the cup holders only come in that color, which is black. If you have a black interior it will go just fine. Put some armoral and shines it back to darker black.
I cleaned mine up already and its pretty much black.
I have more cup holders too so if you guys can’t find any at ur junkyard email me.
Hey, what’s up? I thought I was the only one from spokane! Man, it is nice to know there is another in town. Maybe we could get together some time. What part of town do you live in? I’m in the Valley and go to CV.

Hey R81, I went to Mt Spokane and live up in mead. My g/f lives in the valley though, so Im out there quite a bit. that would be cool if we could get together sometime. I thought I was the only one too. its nice to hear from a fellow Spocomptonite.
Here ya go teg90rs, with cups. cans fit the best frappuccino bottles work too, but things bigger hit the ridge on the bottom of the dash like the bottle.
Its a manual and it doesnt hit, I got about 2 inches or so between the shifter and the cup holders. But it is a short shifter so I’m not sure how it works out on cars with normal shifters.
The tauruses are from about '87 to about '94, not real sure though.
