Thanks man. I just talked to my buddy earlier and he’s gonna let me borrow the turbo off his rb20 (r32 skyline motor) to see if it fits. I’m gonna pull the radiator and fans out, mount the turbo to my manifold and see if it clears the block & leaves room for the ac. I’ll post photos when i’m doing that here in the next couple weeks
Ok so here’s an update.
I got that test pipe in the mail. It looks awesome, seems really well made. I go to put it on the car and stupid me realized my header collector is 2.25 and the test pipe is 2.5…fail on my part. Instead of just saying fuck it I decided I was determined to make it work. I decided to go ahead and pull the radiator and header out since I’m gonna test fit my friends stock rb20 turbo this saturday. Well in the process of that the header wrap disintegrated on me =[ So I pulled all of that off and then found out my pos header has 4 cracks in it. Just so everyone knows never buy a dc sports header. They’re JUNK!!! It’s been rewelded so many times now and just looks horrible. I went ahead and sanded it down and i’m getting a friend to weld the cracks up tomorrow. After that I’m gonna spray some gray ceramic paint onto it just to make it look less awful. After all of that I got back to trying to fit a 2.5 in pipe onto a 2.25 in collector. Well luckly the 2.5in donut gasket fit nice and tight onto the 2.25 donut gasket I had on there so all I had to do was bore the bolt holes out on the header to make them oval. Once I did that the pipe bolted right up and doesn’t leak (tested it with high pressure vacuum in reverse lol). So all in all it was a success.
I’m hoping this turbo will fit and clear my ac stuff. Fingers crossed. I’ll post pics of it mounted in my bay if it does fit
Here are the picture of the test pipe…and if any of you are wondering why I’m putting this on now since i’m not boosted yet. It’s cause I don’t like spending money and just having parts sit around lol
Got a friend of mine to weld up all the cracks in the header. Can’t really see them in this picture, but whatever.
Went ahead and spray painted it with some high temp ceramic crap. I didn’t want to have it looking like complete shit.
itll look like shit once that high temp ceramic crap starts coming off after about 2-3 drives, also the test pipe will make ur exhaust sound like crap ricer hondas and raspy…id recommend a high flow cat over a test pipe any day, test pipes sole purpose is only to be used for testing and tuning not actual use on a car like ppl seem to be using them nowadays
If it comes off then oh well. It’s worth a shot instead of leaving it bare metal so it can look like shit and rust. A test pipe is normally ran on boosted cars to alleviate unnecessary back pressure. Not just for testing and tuning…plus if you tune on a test pipe and then throw a cat in there after the fact, that’s gonna throw the tune off slightly cause the back pressure and the speed at which the air is getting out has changed. Anyway I had it on there the other day and other then it leaking slightly cause it wasn’t lines up right, the exhaust sounded the same. I’ve got an exhaust clip video from awhile back, I’ll make a new one after this and let you decided then whether or not it sounds “raspy” or “ricer”. I’ve got a full stainless steal rsr exmag…it’s gonna take a lot to make that sound ricer or raspy
i woulda tried to polish the header, my buddy has the same one and he polished his up nicely, looks sick and it just turned that nice bronze color…and have u have that “extendable” piece of the test pipe welded? i had the same shit on my car before and didnt weld it just had it clamped after about a week it actually separated and made the car soo loud i couldnt even drive it lol…
as for test pipe on boosted cars, i never woulda even thot of putting one on my evo…all we did on it was just punch out the insides of the cat to make it “high flow” lol
Oh na, I’m not a fan polished stuff. I don’t like anything that’s shiny or that looks like chrome. And no i’m not having that test pipe welded. I didn’t have clamps or anything on them and they didn’t leak. They fit together really tight and are a pain to slip into each other. If I have an issue with it then yeah I will have it welded. Doing that to the cat causes air to bounce around in there and isn’t really helping very much. It’s the same thing as cutting a cat completely. The space is a large oval and causes the air not to flow straight through cause it’s bouncing off the sides in there.
Let me rephrase something. The only thing I like polished or shiny and chrome is my exhaust tip…that’s it
+1 on shiny exhaust tips…and oh okay was jw about the pipe cuz i had one too that i pressed together with a press and it still separated after a few heat cycles, i hope u have better luck with yours
your test pipe should be ok with boosted car.
Long ass day! I’m too tired to go into details, but I got my turbo!!! =] I had to trim quite a bit off the block to get it to fit, it’s not clocked yet so that’s not how it’s final position will be, and I learned I have to go half size radiator…oh well, I got my turbo and that’s all I care about! =] Dat Nissan r32 skyline rb20 turbo…in a honda. I will post photos tomorrow of the block where I trimmed it and go into a bit more detail about this. I’m exhaust right now
Looks awesome! Bet she will be a blast to drive when the turbo setup is done!

why does that manifold look like it was a stock exhuast manifold? is it an ebay log style?
Oh yea man I can’t wait =]
Yea it’s some cheap ebay log manifold. It wont look all rusty and shitty when everything is done. I’m gonna port match it as well since the ports are kinda small.

i had gotten my hopes up, thinking there was finally a stock exhuast manifold that fit for a homemade turbo kit. lol
lol sorry man.
Ok so I started taking the turbo apart to clean it
All the blades are in great shape
Looks pretty clean on the inside
Got a ebay knock off blow off valve yesterday from a friend for free and some intercooler piping
and my cheap log manifold
So far I only have those 3 things, but so far…I haven’t paid anything =] I’ve got really nice friends and I don’t mind doing work for turbo parts lol
The bov will match my engine bay when it goes on, the compressor housing is getting powder coated black, and the exhaust manifold will look better as well before it goes in
Welp…radiator blew today =[ I hate to go half size, but looks like i’m gonna have to for the turbo set up. I also lost my ac today =[ The hole on the radiator seems to be cause by it rubbing on the condenser, so I think the condenser got a hole as well and leaked all my freon out. I haven’t checked that yet though cause I need sunlight for that. I really, really, REALLY wanted to keep my ac, but if the condenser has a leak, then it’s all coming out. I’m not gonna deal with getting a new one and recharging the system. I just don’t have the money for that.
I haven’t posted anything in here in awhile because I’ve been posting all my stuff in the turbo section thread.
Anyway i’ll make this short. Radiator blew, bought a new half size one (GO-Autoworks), fuel pump died on my db1 so I took the stock pump out of this car and put it in the 4dr. I wen ahead and bought a Walbro and put it in this car. Got everything done, tried to start it and the igniter had gone bad…somehow. I replaced that and started it up for the first time in over a month and gave it a good bath.
Video of it running again
That’s it for now, next step is to fix the ac and finished up the turbo set up (i’ll post the turbo stuff in the turbo thread)
New to the Integra scene (well owning one anyway), but I just purchased a 90 LS owned by an elderly couple with 86K original miles for $2900. The car has power everything including sunroof. It even still has the factory floor mats and owners manual.
