My jasper build thread, G2TEG 2!

nice pickup:up:

Did you ever get my email?

Yeah I got one of them. I may not have got the other. I sent you another one though. Yeah Iā€™m really excited about the wing. Everyone wait till Tuesday Iā€™ll have pics of it.

Hey guys need some help. I got my wing today and upon inspection I found that the wing has some cracks in it. what do you guys think to fix it? just some resin on thecrack? or get fiber and lay it over the crack to fix it?

pics of the cracks? for better advices

Pouring resin on the cracks will leave it brittle and it will crack again.

If itā€™s fiberglass the crack needs to be ground out, new 'glass applied, then shaped and formed, then re-painted.

Okay guys got the wing finay going. Got it in the mai today and found it had cracks on it. I was disappointed that it was not the condition I paid for. But im not gonna give up and going to make this thing right. I did what unified said and fixed the fiberglass like he said. got it sanded down and primed. Should be shooting paint tomorrow.

Heres the cracks.

I got the wing mocked up right now because the brackets were pop riveted in and made the wing sit too high. So I made some studs and welded them on so the brackets bolt to the wing instead of pop rivets. Iā€™ll post some pics of them tomorrow.

Thought it was a Real Hiro Wingā€¦itā€™s a Pankake Racing Re-Issue??

I am really interested to see your brackets as I had some made and I want to make sure it mount safely (Donā€™t want to loose he wing while driving)

As for strenghtening mine, I will have the wing wraped in Carbon Fiber before paint so itā€™ll be more solid.

Anyways, welcome to the club lol. Awesome DA! Wish mind was as ā€œaggressiveā€ as yours.

Yeah itā€™s the re issue I just always seem to say hiro. Yeah Iā€™ll post ip pics tonight of the brackets. Iā€™m not too worried about the strength itā€™s in pretty good shape. Besides the cracks. But carbon fiber would be something to look into.

Thanks pretty happy about being in the hiro/pancake club. Never really thought of my car as aggressive. Haha thank you though.

Damn Dustin, Iā€™m right there with you. I never would have shipped a wing like thatā€¦ Thatā€™s just asking to be broken. Iā€™m sure glad you received it in one piece. If it makes you feel any better, stress cracks (or cracks in this case) along the very edges you pointed out are very common on Pancake Racing Hiro wing re-issues. Pat designed the re-issue as a two piece design, and it was fit together on the outer edge and inner edge. The authentic Hiro wing, like mine, is a one-piece fiberglass design that makes the wing very light. The Pancake Racing re-issue is a few pounds heavier, because of its design and somewhat thicker material.

Concerning the mounting brackets, I, like yourself, made new ones. I wasnā€™t too thrilled about mounting the wing with the brackets that came included with the Pancake Racing re-issue. Kinda sketchy if you ask meā€¦ The standard setup is two per side, but I run three (per side) for safety. With trunk flex and other applicable variables happening while racing, the clips are under a good amount of load and itā€™s ā€˜paysā€™ to play on the safe side. Iā€™m interested to see what you came up with/how they look now.

Overall, your car looks absolutely great with that wing on. I canā€™t wait to see it paint matched. I know it seems odd, even to myself, but welcome to the club! Keep up the great work my dude.

Nice pickup! That pancake wing is the \same condition I received mine in, which had the effect of it sitting in storage for 6 years before slasher hit me up for the remakes. Kudoā€™s to you for saving it!

Okay guys here it is!
Got the wing mounted up and a the set screws for it!
Heres the wing with the clips on but no set screws

Today I finally got to paint it and im really excited the way it turned out. I will get some pictures of it in the sun tomorrow!

^^

that looks awesomeā€¦canā€™t wait to see the finished product on the car. hurry up and install it already!!!

Dude! i am loving your build. Rear X-BAR is badd ass! love how you made it where you didnt tear up the panels. Hook it up!!
im really digging your air duct idea and DC resovior location (im gonna have to order me one of those) can you please post a picture of how that bracket is mounted?

Is your rear window lexan?

I would say no seeing as how it still has the defroster running through it.

The wing looks great man, and I am now going on a hunt to find one. I never reeally liked them, but they have grown on me so much!
Keep it up man, you do great work with that DA.

Okay guys its done!! wetsanded and buffed it today. Turned out really well! Mounted it up to the car today with some foam tape between the bracket and trunk to avoid scratching the carbon fiber. The color is a tad darker than the rest of the car but what you gonna doā€¦ But overall I absolutly love the way it changed the way my car looked.
anyways heres the pics! Sorry the trunks dirty its got my finger prints all over it.

Looks badass! Very very nice car you got there!

Turned out awesome man! I love the way it accents your car. Now go put her to good use!

Oh yeah Iā€™ll have some fun with it. Itā€™s sad though the tegs getting to the point for me to wear I feel bad tracking it. Like I dont want to crash and lose it all.

I donā€™t like your teg, it makes me all jelly. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though, very very nice.
