Couple updates on the car lately since I got some upsetting news that my car isnt looking to be finished until later this month. So I’ve still been messing around with my motor. I also made a new harness for the car since I wasnt liking the old one.
Started off with figuring out my lengths I wanted
Oh what a mess
Got the lengths right for the indoor wiring
Finished product I think its a lot better than before.
Tucked the injector harness’s and polished up my adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Heres the motor all finished up until I find something else I want to do to it.
Check out the dipstick I made for the car. the end piece was a piece of stainless steel I found in my dads old hardware bucket.
Picking up a OEM rear visor today for the teg from Rollinmyda! I’m really excited to get this thing!
Sucks to hear that your car is taking longer than expected… But don’t rush it! Good paint jobs definitely take time.
On another note, I like the progress on the motor itself. I’ve always had the mindset that the little details count for a lot of the “complete picture”… once it is back together it will look awesome
Got a quick little update that I’m really excited about. I picked up the rear visor I was talking about earlier today from Rollinmyda, he was a real cool guy, and talked tegs for a while. I traded a type R throttle body and a little bit of cash for it but its in pretty good shape except for a small crack at the top which I’m going to fix and I will wetsand it as well to make it nice. In the pictures it’s got alot of dust on it. I’m also looking at a set of window visors to complete my whole set of visors which would be really cool!
Heres the brackets for it, one of the obviously has been broken so I’m going to clean that piece up, and also get some new hardware for it, maybe some buttonhead allens or something cleaner thats not the phillips head.
You can see that crack at the top. its noticeable but hopefully when I’m done with it it won’t be as noticeable but I’m still excited to own one of these things.
It was nice meeting you Dustin, I’m glad this thing is going on such a clean DA! I look forward to seeing how you fix that crack and seeing it installed on your teg!
thumbs up
Rollin thanks man! It was cool meeting you too, hopefully I will be getting it fixed soon.
Anyone have any good ideas for a glue or a good way or fixing it? That dries pretty clear?
What seat bracket did you use for the F1 seat I’m prudy sure a while back you still were using the lap belt right?
and sorry if it was already asked.
The seat bracket is a modified weaponR I believe with some side mounts. I was using a lap belt in the stock position since the bracket has the mount for a seat belt.
I believe a few brands out there sell DA specific brackets, like buddyclub…etc.
Hey Bro, i know you just bought it but for any reason if you ever want to sell the oem rear window visor please do let me know i would appreciate it. Names Richard.
thanks
Yeah sorry man but I doubt I will ever sell it. It’s just one of those pieces you just hold on to.
Couple small updates, started working on my visor some more. I took the broken piece off and cleaned off all the yellow looking glue, and got some new glue for it and reglued it together. The crack is alot less noticeable and fits a little better too. Tomorrow I will wetsand the visor and get it all cleaned up. I also repainted the brackets and now everything is almost ready!
Here’s the brackets!
I feel it looks alot better because the glue isn’t noticeable like the old glue which makes it look better.
Also today I installed my Golden Eagle cam gears for the motor, simple greened my valve cover and scrubbed it clean, also polished my valve cover hardware to match everything else!
Here’s the valve cover and hardware.
This is a before after shot of the cover nuts.
Looking good Dustin, I like the new harness and kudos for fabbing up your own brackets
Actually man those are the OEM brackets for the visor! Haha But thank you about the harness! I like it a lot more than my old one which was not too pleasing to the eyes.
would you not wetsand and buff the visor then shoot some clear over it?
Spraying clearcoat over something that has just been buffed isn’t the best idea… it will have nothing to “grab” or hold to.
Paint/clearcoat needs scratches to properly adhere.
ye i meant “or shoot clear over it” my bad
I’m just going to wetsand and buff it too get the scratchs out but the visor isn’t faded so it should be fine without a clear
lol word? Ive never been a big fan of those rear visors.
The visor has never been on top of my list on must have mods but it was a opportunity sale, so I snatched it up. Can’t hurt having a rare piece like that!
