93IntegraGS do you know spyder_099 considering you both live in the same city??you still have your teg?
btw markus im not sure if this thing will get tuned this year. so if it doesnt i cant drive to far but if you really wanna take pics this year you can come down to the south shore i can drive it locally:naughty:
well project is on stand by. no oil is coming out of the turbo. gonna remove it tomorrow and see what’s up. think i might have fried my second gt28 this ones got 80km on it.
the first time, i broke in the new engine with the turbo. i searched and searched again and everyone said it was alright. i think metal clogged the inlet and starved the turbo of oil. however this time i have absolutely no idea why the inlet is clogged once again. there’s no more metal in the oil and the engine had 300km on it. the only thing i can think of is that i got fucked on the new center housing or i just have the worst luck ever. i have no explanation at the moment why the oil doesn’t come out. today i built a block off plate for the turbine housing. im going to run only the housing with the hole blocked off so i can at least run the engine n/a and finish the break in to see if my rings are ok. i think they got washed down. probably going to have to tear apart the engine again and re hone the cylinders and new rings.
going to get a t3/t04e 57 trim and get my flanges changed. journal bearings are tougher and a lot cheaper to rebuild or replace. with my luck i might pass a couple of these also.
however i wont give up. this engine will see 400whp+ next year. might end up sleeving the block to 84mm with new pistons and run 10:1 compression instead of the current 8.8:1 im running now.
shitty man, hope you get her goin, the first LS/v-t i built with my friend i ran into similar problems with turbo failure and then a oil pump failure he eventually got it goin and made some decent numbers
dunno really, we took the motor apart checked everything cleaned and reassembled it motor checked out fine, put a new turbo back on went for a drive then the oil pump failed horribly fried the motor. couldnt tell if the turbo was gonna last or not. talked with a few shops and they said that the intial break-in creates some metal flakes but not enough to clog a return line etc. but some shops said that it could create enough flakes to clog the line i dunno cause most of the motors ive built have never had very much flakes in the first oil change, what did you oil look like? also could you post or send me pics of your Hotside charge piping id like to run mine like that since i cant seem to find anyother setup thats clean like yours
hmm sounds like my issue. ill check what pics i got and ill post them here. i’ve never seen a hotside pipe like mine. is there anything in specific you would like to see that you don’t see in the pics i posted?
well converted the engine to n/a for the meantime while i get my turbo issue’s figured out. the engine runs like total shit and when i accelerate i can see intense smoke come out through the hood from the catch can. going to have to re ring and hone the block it seems.
here you go stevo. the vacuum/boost hose goes to the boost controller.
well i know that im re honing the cylinders and changing the rings and the turbo is scrap. i guess thats all there is to know. new rings, new turbo x 3 and ill be boosting in no time! this time im breaking in the rings on the dyno. none of that going easy bullshit that’s what ruins the break in. you got to beat on it right from the beginning.
turbo is getting checked and getting the necessary work done to it. went to see my tuner he’s ready for me as soon as i get my turbo back. hoping to bring him the car end of next week to change my rings with a new hone then hit the dyno for a low boost tune. usually i would tear the engine apart myself but i am so fed up with everything i just want to get the car running so he’s the only one besides myself that works on my car. then drive it A LOT before it snows.
