where heres too hoping that plan works for you:up:
turbo is getting checked and getting the necessary work done to it. went to see my tuner he’s ready for me as soon as i get my turbo back. hoping to bring him the car end of next week to change my rings with a new hone then hit the dyno for a low boost tune. usually i would tear the engine apart myself but i am so fed up with everything i just want to get the car running so he’s the only one besides myself that works on my car. then drive it A LOT before it snows.
or so that’s the plan.
Good luck! I plan on driving my car A LOT! when its done until it snows too lol. Damn snow…love/hate relationship. haha. More hate though :D.
ahh i hate snow! my beater is an 01 prelude dropped on tein HR’s. we’ll see how that goes it might be sold before winter though. gonna get a bug eye WRX or a fourth gen legacy GT. leaning more towards the legacy though. boost all year round will be nice!
mmm…legacy! ;D

Dude… I SO know how you feel right now. I did an NA build on my car and i had to take my engine apart 3 times to finally get it right.
I had an ass load of oil dumping into the combustion chamber due to my rings being shifted when i installed them. At first, i thought it was bad valve stem seals so i had them all replaced by OEM honda valve seals ($$$$$$$$$$$). Put it all back together, still had oil in the cylinders, took another look and noticed the rings. Rehoned, put in new cylinders and BAM car was good to go! I’m still burning quite a bit of oil though… probably like 1 litre per 3 weeks. I think i’m gonna have to rering again to get rid of the burning problem… I REEEEEALLY don’t want to do it though… even though it’ll only take me a day to do it.
damn man. it’s so depressing but i know when it’ll be running right ill have a huge smile on my face. luckly for you it didn’t cost you two 1400$ GT28’s. i think that’s what pisses me off the most. the rings i can deal with but the turbo’s frying makes no fucking sense. :gunright:
whenever you do re ring and hone the block break it in the right way aka beat it from the start. cylinder pressures need to be as high as they can to get behind and push on the rings as hard as possible onto those freshly honed cylinder wall’s to wear them in. if you drive lightly they will never seal right because cylinder pressure is low. biggest misunderstanding in engine break in. im positive after it’s back up and running i’ll be burning less oil at 400whp turbo then most stock n/a engines.
spec B would be nice! but out of budget
got my turbo back. not sure what was blocking it but it’s unblocked. the guy told me i took it off right in time because the bearings were still good. heated up a bit and turned blue but still good. he just buffed them and reassembled. next week will be changing the rings and hitting the dyno!
good to hear man, cant wait to see your Numbers.
quick question im planning on getting the Mishimoto intercooler you heard anything good or bad about them?? then once i get home on leave im just gonna put everything on and go to the Dyno for 10lbs and have a fun driver ^^
GOOD LUCK!! I’m excited to see the turn out also
thanks! will be tuning on low boost only tho. i think my wastegate is like 8psi or something i dont really remember. should be in the low 200’s.
stevo ive heard only good things about mishimoto’s products so id say go for it.
tuning this week.
I been waiting for this lol. Let’s see those numbers:dance:
^^ Mini too :tapfing:
how much did you have to cut the bumper for the intercooler? i was test fitting one on my car and we would of had to cut the sh!t out of mine to where i couldnt even rock my lip anymore, love the car though looks really clean
i had to cut a bit but my core is only 2.5" wide. theres about 2-3" of plastic left where the lip mounts to. it’s solid enough.
tuning on high boost also on a mustang dyno so i cant wait either!
^^ how many lbs were you running and how much are you turning it up to? Got any specific range you are tying to get to?
For my bumper I trimed nearly next to nothing to have it fit. Just a little of the black plastic and thats about it…everything fits great. Although it could be that I didn’t use the usual route for the piping.
was at 18psi. and now will be around the same. maybe a bit more. once the setup is maxed out ill stop. i probably won’t go past the stock gsr redline of 8000rpm either. but once again, depends when the setup stops making power. i’ll find out soon, very soon.
^^ For sure! Keep us updated. When is it going on the dyno?
ran it a bit tonight on the dyno to make sure the engine is running right. not sure up to what point he brought it up to but the last phone call he was taking it up to 4000rpm. going to do a leak down test to make sure everything is right. we didn’t end up changing the rings cause they seemed somewhat fine but he finds that the catch can is smoking a little more then usual. hard to tell though because mine isn’t setup the way he usually does it so not much to compare with. should be going all the way tomorrow.
Schweeeeeet! looking forward to the #'s man:cross:, congrats on an awsome DA!
