Need a piston recomendation

i need to figure out what pistons i need i have a ls/vtec turbo and i just bought rods so i need to know what pistons i should run they are eagle rods and i want to boost like 10 on a eclispe intercooler

forged, 9:1

JE
SRP
Wiseco
Race Engineering

the list goes on and on

well what happens if i got a higher Compresion would they pistons start tapping the valves

no, your engine would just explode under boost.

yeah stick to 9.0 cr or less unless you’re gonna drop a huge chunk of change to accurately tune it, which you should anyways but most dont.

If you run higher compression detonation will have a more severe effect. Anything you do to increase cylinder pressures (either raising boost or rainsing CR) will require more precise tuning to prevent detonation.

I recommend Arias or JE pistons…

i think i am going to go with aeris

dude

go with 10.5:1 pistons…

dont go 9:1 pistons

if you dont have the money dont do it. you should wait until you can properly tune your car.

are you insane? did you forget to take your prozac today? 10psi at 10.5:1 CR is not practacle for a street set up…

what I dont get is

people get 9:1 pistons, but want to run 14 psi or more.

it is putting the same kind of stress that 10 psi and 10.5:1 cylinders would, but you would NOT have power in the low end, unlike the 10.5:1 set up, with less boost.

Ya I agree, if you are positive you will never want any more than 10psi, I think you should go with something higher than 9:1. Gotenks is righto on the moneyo.

My buddy has a 240sx with a turbo ka which this the stock moter he runs 8.5:1. he dynoed with498 bhp on 23 psi. So lower is better.

Lower is not better. If you bothered to read and understand what we are saying you would realize that.

yea but that is a 240sx and this is a gen2 intergra big difference

mr teg…

the point is…

if that 240 sx had higher compression pistons, it would take less PSI, less fuel, to make just as much top horsepower as his set up.

and no, if its the same effective CR, then its the same stress.

and the advantage of using high cr pistons is, is that you get faster spool up time, and more power in the low end (even though its not needed much)

alright well you run your high compression pistons and ill run my endine low compression pistons and lets see who makes more power and last longer.

Don’t be a tool. Besides, its Endyn, not endine. http://www.theoldone.com/

For some people it’s not about “making the most power” mr.teg. What good is a 600 peak horsepower street car if you’re compression is so low, and the turbo is so large that the only time you spool up is in fifth gear at 140mph? There are too many variables to just make a blanket statement like “lower is better.” Better for what? Autocross? Daily driving? Drag racing? Road racing? I’d much rather have a beefy powerband that starts from 2k RPM and goes thru 6k RPM, over a peaky engine that makes nothing until just before redline. Go get some 6:1 compression pistons if you think lower is better. Those are da bomb yo.

I somehow don’t believe you have “endine” pistons. Maybe some “endine” stickers tho. Heh.

I’m talking about being streetable and practicle. running 8.5:1 or 9.3:1 you dont have run alote off boost to make power and it isnt raping your engine just causuly driving. they say at a ball park figer one bar of boost triples your compression. a moter can only handle so much compression.
