ok guy i searched but still not getting the answer.
I’m actually 6 lbs boosted and wanna go to the saturation of my 450cc injectors, driven by uberdata. Ive red you better run an inTank fuel pump but it seems to be a pain to remove.
What i would like to do is put a 255 walbro inline in the engine bay. Is it safe and reliable even though it may be a bit noisy ? i know this is not the BEST solution but is it really safe ? how much boost you think ill be able to get out of my 450cc dsm ?
I have installed the walbro 255 hp in my car. The first time I took off the tank it was a bitch. But I have had to take it off two more times since the first. I now can change the pump in about 45 mins. As for the walbro pump, I havent had any trouble out of it. I had to take it off those two times due to other things. Make sure your fpr is good. Mine was stuck closed and I thought the pump was the problem. It bogged down and whined bad. So I took it off again and replaced it only to find it had the same problem. It was my fpr stuck closed. I had to replace the fpr. The third time I took it off was because I knocked a hole in the tank installing a catback, back before I had my custom exhaust. I have now had it in for about a year and a half with no problems. The past 3 months I have been boosting 9 psi on 450 dsms obd0 with turboedit.
In my experiences, dropping the tank and installing a new pump did not take very long and wasn’t very difficult. I would personally just do that, but it’s not my project.
Well in my opinion leaving stock pump and throwing in an inline pump just cause its easier is just cutting corners and in ways perhaps asking for problems. I personally would take the extra time and put in the intank pump.
The problem with in tank is that they use the fuel around them to cool them so if you run it almost empty all the time if fucks up the pump, so the intank is fine if you refill it around a quarter tank you are fine, I would rather have an inline so you can run that shit down as empty as you want and not fuck stuff up.
