need help water in trunk

I have a big pool of water in my trunk. I can’t get my plastic siding off that is in the trunk to see if my lights are where the leak is. And yes i have read teh TT for help. SOmebody please help me.

thanks

The problem is that you have two drains from you sun roof, two hoses that run down from the roof on both sides to the trunk, if they come out of there exit point, (and they frequently do) then yo need to re-insert them to avoid the leaks. Remove the trunk quarter trim and you will see the hoses out of place.
Good Luck

sorry i am new to cars. What is the quarter trim? I tried to remove the platic panal across the rear of the interior trunk but it was stuck my the rubber seal somewhere. is this the quarter trim? if so how do i remove it?

thanks for the quick reply

I had a problem like this, there was water coming from the sides in the trunk. It turned out it was leaking from the pressure vents

good job for checking out the TT first.

And if you DID do a search, search HARDER next time.

That may not even be what it really called I just refer to it as that. When looking in the trunk, it is the left and right panels that go all the way from the back to the speaker grills. It is not necessary to take the whole panel out, just remove the rear panel where the latch is, (It is held in by pins, carefully pull it up, I dont remember if there were screws or not?)
Then slightly pry back the side panels with a flash light you will seee the hoses!

THANKS EVERYONE

i didn’t even think about doing a search thanks max.

I will try again tommorow after school. My problem now is how to get the panels off. I have tried before and they didn’t seem to come off very easy. oh well i will let you know how it goes tommorow

Ok i still can’t get the rear panal off. I took off 2 screws that are behind the pop off cover and two that go in to the floor. is there only 4? it looks like it is stuck where the rubber seal meets the panal. Is it glued on?

anybody done this before?

the seal around the trunk jus pulls off… the side panel is also screwd in unthe the speaker trim… pull the seal off all the way up to above the trim and then take out the three screws… two on top and one in the back where the seat back is. then the plastic one on the bottom… it also has clips near where it meets the seal. when you take it off you will have to reach in and disconnect the trunk light connections aswell. and it is much easier to move after you take the rear panel off. i jus did this today when fixing the same problem… i checked the other one under the antennea but it was still sealed up fine so i didnt bother with it.

actually the panel is one entire piece that goes from the tail lights to the b pillar. (where the door latch is). i modded mine so i can remove the two sections individually as you can tell from the pic.

thank you everyone for your help. It turns out that i was just not pulling hard enough to get the pannel off. Sure enough passenger side tube was off. I just can believe that much water gets in there when the roof is closed. lucky i think it had just started to leak because there was no rust behind teh panal that i could see. The funny thing is i check the car for leaks before i bought it.
thanks again for everything

Neil

okok…right about now im startin to get pissed off…
MY BACK SEATS ARE GETTING WET!!!

I sealed my tail lights…Its raining today and i checked my trunk…no water by the tail lights BUT…My back seat is wet…especially the rite side…

NOW SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME!?!?!? :frowning:

last time i sealed my lights i checked the sunroof drain tubes…they were in place…last thing i can think of is that the sunroof drain tubes r clogged…

HELP!!!:bawl: :bawl:

That would be my guess!

any more guesses???

i wanna make sure B4 i start rippin stuff apart

how would i un-clog the tubes then???
im thinking of usin my compressor and blow gun…try shooting some air into them???

Thats exactly what I would do. I have heardx of people resealing them with silicone and clogging the ends up, if thats applicable I would try that. Make sure the drain spicket is not blocked on the exit end as well.

I had leaks in my trunk before. It turned out it was the pressure vents

FAWKER!!!
Whuts up…dunno if u rmbr me from the meet last summer!!!

ne ways…how did u fix ur leak???
my cars been sitting over night and my seats r wet…how could the pressure vents clog up???

i juss need a little more opinions and advice…then i gonna attack this problem today!!!

I think the gaskets were gone. You can only buy the pressure vents in a set. So basically I just ripped out the plastic surrounding and put silicone all around the vent.

To test if thats your problem, just get a buddy to sit in your trunk and use a hose to spray the outside of your car. If there is water coming out from the sides where the pressure vents are, then theres your problem.

well…

I did whut i could…if all else fails i think it may even be my rite rear quarter glasss seal…

thanx for the help guys!!!
