So with autox season starting in a few months, this year I’ve got an aftermarket set of wheels to run for my track tires and I need some tapered lugs for them. But I haven’t been able to have enough convidence in a set to buy. Any suggestions? Alloy or forged steel?? Brand?
Im currently looking at Muteki SR35, Blox, or BWR.
Help me, help me!
Noone has aftermarket nuts or here?? Haha
Experience or recommendations from anyone?
go with muteki
i never trust blox shit i think its shitty
Thanks, ill probably pick up a set of red open end Mutekis soon, and a torque wrench since ill be taking them on and off so much.
ye sont buy cheap lugs like bloxs bwr nrg thats all crap
^^^ what he said don’t buy BLOX, SKUNK2, Muteki’s, or any alike
Go for McGard!!!

Yeah, just curious what’s so bad about Muteki? They aren’t alloy and they seem to be pretty popular, although I’ve heard little reviews…
well I don’t really have that much experience with muteki per se; however at least two of my friends had cases of the muteki lug nut strippinprojeg after a couple track session. Yet it may not be the product itself, probably user error lol, but they both switched over to McGards and have yet to stripped them. It’s from my personal experience, not really much informative. But you asked for suggestions, and here’s my $0.02
Me personally I like project kics lug nuts, but I am not willing to spend an arm and a leg for a set.
I agree. haha Kics are pretty sweet. Its suprising to me the steel Mutekis stripped before the studs did… oh well. Ill think about the McGards, but i was hoping for something a little more attractive than chrome splines. haha
the way I see, I rather I have that looks like a “bag of dicks” and do it’s actual purpose, rather than having something looking nice and doing a piss poor job lol. Exception is women lol
LOL awesome. Yeah, and im the exact same way, but thought id like to stand out a bit here. But considering they are for track use only, they wont be used but a couple of times a month.
Here are the new ones I put on the SUV that is still in the body shop. Should have them out on the road for the first time next Wed. morning. Drag open ended titanium colored ones.

Needed the new rims, tires, and lug nuts so the turboed SUV could play in this:

Use alloy if your going to use them once a month. Forge lugs are best for track and don’t show any wear after the 5th use like aluminum shavings on the threads.
So pardon my stupidity but is alloy are forged steel considered the same in the lug nut world? Should i just be looking for forged steel?
Im looking at these http://www.ebay.com/itm/MUTEKI-SR35-35MM-WHEELS-LUG-NUTS-12X1-5-M12-12-1-5-ACORN-RIM-OPEN-END-20-RED-H-/160665317650?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AIntegra&vxp=mtr&hash=item2568663112

I dont know, honestly i dont care too much on what they look like, as long as they dont strip and can handle be torqued to spec. (and are resonably priced) Im pretty cautious with anything i buy, and since ill be racing i want to be confident in my setup. Is it true that your wheel hub is what takes most of the stress around turns rather than your lugs/studs? Maybe thats only on applications with a centric hub?

thats why you should use hubcentric rings when using aftermarket wheels
also in regards to which lug nuts you should choose… this is a good informative thread…
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-tires-wheels-brakes-suspension-sponsored-tire-rack/565970-aluminum-vs-steel-lug-nuts.htm
btw the finish on the mutekis suck… theyll chip over time
I thought centric rings were only for a better balance, or to center the wheel on the hub rather than the lug nuts?
Did i just answer my earlier question? haha
pretty much lol so you just need to find your hub diameter which is 56.1mm iirc and the wheel bore diameter and those vary between manufacturers
I suggest getting black or polished chrome lug nuts to avoid seeing peeling of color…I got the chrome ones but have not yet installed them…I will leave my review on em here once putted on…
Most reputable colored lugs are either anodized or powder coated… they ‘should’ be fairly durable. The eBay ones are the ones you have to worry about chipping.
