New DB1 Turbo Finished!

Well I’ve been lurking around here for several months now. I finally finished my turbo sedan project. Now that it’s in one piece and driving, I’ve gotta figure some things out.

I’m going to get an Innovative LC-1 within a month to tune the beast.
My question has to do with the wastegate routing. I don’t plan on rerouting my wastegate dump back into the exhaust where the o2 sensor will be. Will the wideband still be able to take accurate readings from what is passing through the downpipe when the wastegate is open?

Ill try to get some pictures tomorrow! :]

yes it will be just as accurate. Wastegates that dump into the atmosphere doesnt affect widebands. I wont go leaner than 12:1 at WOT so have fun and lets see those pics bro

WOW…Nice to know there are more DB1z that are getting BOOSTED…My Wastegate go’s into the atmosphere…No problem other than my A/C lines melted like butter on in…So now I am getting some longer Lines to be re-routed away from heat…

Can’t wait to see what yours looks like…I posted some pics of mine on General Discution…REDLINE Has Gone BOOST…Check it out and let me know what you think…Thanks…

Some Pics for you…

incredible job man. Very impressed, wish I had that in my 4 door

I think the only thing you should still do is paint the wiper arms and the windshield trim, both have paint that came off over the years, and its quite easy to fix. If your interested, follow the wiper arm painting article on team-integra

fatty, get some pictures up too!

Sounds great bro…I am going to do that this weekend…Thanks for the tipp…I just never paid mind to it before…But now it is begining to bother me abit…hehehe…I will have to fix it this weekend for sure…Thanks again…

that the drag kit? so that allows you to keep a/c?

Well…That Old Chool Drag kit does…Like all kits…Cutting was a must and fitting things here and there were a pain…But finishing result is nice…I am happy…It is excactly what I wanted… .All FMIC piping going one way made it alot easier…Thanks…

WOW! Hah I love the ride, RedLine. I was looking on HT through the 4door thread and I actually saved a picture of your car because I liked it so much. That’s great.
Oh, here’s a picture of the piece.

It looks like crap, and I still have to do some more fitting work with the IC pipes to get the bumper to wrap around properly. But I’m happy with the 100% diy project - well at least all of the IC pipes, exhaust, and installs. 10PSI pulls hardddd!

Awsome bro…Happy Boostin to ya…Just make sure that you are well tuned…Bigger injector is a plus and a must have for 10 lbs. I am only pushing 8lbs and I love it…I just now need to get the open Wastegate down tube welded to the Down pipe so that I don’t hear as much Exhaust leak noise…All I want to hear is the Turbo Spooling…hehehe…

She is looking great bro…Keep up the good work…Let me know when you post more pics like of the engine bay…Be safe…

Thanks for the comments on my Teg…

I don’t hear my turbo anymore. At first when I was running without a full filter (just screen) and downpipe only, the thing was loud as could be. Now it’s quite a tame sounding beast. I ended up going with DSM450’s and I have a really solid turboedit basemap on the NG60 code. After the first 300 miles, the compression check was the same as before I boosted. I also need to get my wastegate dump tube bolted up.

I havn’t seen too many people mount their turbo this way. But there was no way to put a filter on the turbo because the mouth pointed right into the transmission. I think I’m going to cut the frame and run it into the side of the bumper/fender area.
(PS: No hate on the SSAC manifold - it hasn’t cracked YET ;] and when it does, I’ve got a MIG in the garage to put it in its place)

Awesome job. Enjoy the spoils of hmt-ery!

That is the same way i had my SS manifold and downpipe attached…I can’t say anything bad about SS i only had problems when i switched to a log sytle manifold.
Anyway looks good!

is that dp custom made??

Yeah. The welds to the flange are really ugly, but it get’s the job done. That was probably my fifth time welding. Hah.

Not bad bro…So did you rlocate your battery…I am going to be doing that soon…So that I can put my Turbo Filter in that spot…I was working on my Teg for about 4 hours last night…I finally got her to stop over heating in traffic…The FANS were in the wrond spot…They are Push Fans but the shop peeps connected them inside as Pull…Now she is Cool as can be…A big weight of my mind…Soon all issues will be taken care of…Your Teg set up is looking awsome…Be safe…

I had overheating issues for about a week. Then after some digging, I realized that I had a small hole in one of the heater hoses that would only leak when it was driving. I wish I could fit a full length radiator, but if you can see in the pictures, you’ll notice that wont happen (at least not with the turbo mounted that way).

On a sad note. I noticed that I was leaking a little bit of oil from the passenger side exhaust cam seal area (The little black cap right above the top radiator hose into the block). Looks like the motor is coming out for a rebuild.

I don’t think that is a Rebuild sign…That is just a lil gasket cover thingy that you can buy at the dealer…I had all the gaskets changed for the Turbo Kit Install…All I am having problems with now is the OIL SENDING UNIT T…Oh an the Oil Return Line with the Oil Pan…Ahhh Turbo Issues…LOL

My Over heating issue got fixed finally…I placed the 2 10" Electirc Spal Slim Fans were they were 1st intended to go…On the outside…They are Push fans so I placed them in front of my A/C condeser…That Radiator looking thing…Now they work better and in traffic for like 1 hour…Normal Opperating Temp…I am soo happy…

It is an awesome feeling. BOOST is the shit. Or just power in general.
