I am new to this forum guys. New to Honda’s to be honest and have been a Toyota fan. Well really a MR2 fan, I really don’t give a sh!t about the rest of the cars they make.
Anyway I wanted to say hi and get your guys opinions and feedback. I am not here to say Toyota is better then Acura, Nissan, etc. I own 3 first gen MR2’s but they are not practical. I drove a 92 Teg the other day and liked it is versatility and what they have to offer. I really had my heart set on a 87 Honda Hatch SI but it had frame damage. Anyway I am looking to get into the Honda family and I think this is the best route. It starts me off with Discs at all 4 corners and I like that. I like their design and the B18 seemed as good as advertised even with its 198xxx miles. However after looking online I have found out I can obtain them much cheaper then the $2k and in far better shape then the one I looked at.
Basically what should I look for? What should I avoid? I am looking for the base B18 but I would love a GSR. I am trying to get in one for under $1500.
My plans for it would be turbo (of course), suspension, BRAKES, and aesthetic touches to complement a nice daily driver. That is what the car will be used for.
Any and all Idea’s appreciated. Thanks
hey welcome, u used the wrong forum. but yes u can usually find some really good condition teggies for under 2k. i bought my ls about 5 yrs ago, 134k clean title and im the 2nd owner bone stock and very clean for 1100. so u just need to find the right seller and haggle down! lol
Not really wrong forum. I am waiting on a good buy to pop up and that was not my intentions for the post. I was wanting to get more ideas on good setups for FI.
I am not looking for monster power at all. It will be my daily so I am looking for around 250hp. I have a good 14B that I think will match up to the B18 nicely for good torque as well as hp. I want a good spool so I can drive it daily. What else should I use with this turbo? Is this a good turbo for what I have in mind? What parts should I avoid and what is good buys?
I have checked other builds out but want more direct input.
Sorry, no personal experience with that particular turbo, but many people have used it on the B18. It will offer you what you are looking for. Quick spool up and good torque. As far as finding a good teg, just pay for one with a good body, and the rest can be had for cheap as there are a ton of motors and other parts that can be found on this board. Everything else for these cars is becoming scarce as they are a dying breed, and junkyards are scrapping them. Good luck and keep us posted.
