new here/build thread

Looking good! Just one question…why did you remove that stuff from the intake manifold?

looks a lil better… imo

agreed^^^ Just wondering the purpose and what you do with all those vac lines that are no longer there. I would love to get rid of that traffic jam of hoses.

Went to IL today, sporting my G2IC hoodie i might add, and got myself a B16 cable trans for a fair deal, got home and also ordered me a new clutch

Looks really clean.

Sooo…how does it work without all those vac line you removed from the manifold area???

i took them off slowly over time, making sure that whatever i took off didnt mess anything up… But it still runs perfect, little boggy on the low end, but i think thats the B20B cams… not a big deal tho. The valve covers pealing and not looking the best right now, lol. Trying to decide on what color to go with now? itll be powder coated by a place here in town, but i dont want wrinkle black. I want sumthin that goes with the car but still looks clean. Also, this car will be on 15lbs in the summer, hopefully, but im wondering what/if a catch can will do anything for me? Will i need one? if not cool, if so what do i go with?

Well i got the clutch and trans in, got about 750 miles on it and i LOVE it. Grabs hard and feels stock, kinda… lol. But thats not what this post is about sadly :(. Monday night i was at my old ladys house, it was about 830 or so when we both heard a loud “bang” and my alarm started goin off! I grabbed my keys and shut it off, ran outside and this middle aged lady looked at me and said, “Im soo sorry, i didnt even see it…” Yea, she somehow managed to back into a white car that was parked under a street light. Oh, and that car happened to be mine. So the cops get called, and the cop says since i wasnt even in the car and it was parked that i dont have to give her my info. So i got her insurance stuff and so far everythings goin pretty smooth. Im waitin for the claims adjuster to get ahold of me, should be tomorrow hopefully. Already got a few estimates and they seem to avg. about $1,700 in damage, but for a 21 yr-old car its cuttin it close to bein totaled. The car books anywhere between $1,900-$2,900. Anyway, heres some pics i took today, i had to pull the fender away from the tire before i cld drive it.

Damn man that sucks sorry.I really hope they dont total it.You were making nice progress with it to.

Thx man, yea i really hope they dont total it… i love this car too much to just let it go, but i also dont want a “rebuilt” title

Damn is thr frame bent if not thats like 2-300 in parts plus paint lol but sucks hope they dnt total it

Frame is still straight!!!

ok, well the appraiser looked at the car today and didnt total it!!! yay! so i got a $1500 check on its way to me… though on a side note, found out the wheel bearing on that side took a good lick. With the car on the ground, you can shake it and feel it move around! yikes!!!

damn and the build was coming along nicely. you should be able to pick up replacement parts for pretty cheap either of someone or ebay. good luck getting it fixed and looking forward to you getting more done. just makes me think that i need to start documenting my build.

Sorry to hear about the car. Do you have a writeup or link on how to do the tranny swap and clutch install? Always wanted to do that and need a new clutch soon as im still on original clutch.

So i dropped the car off to the body shop on Tuesday, they called and said it needed a new bumper support. So im still without a car for now, they said i should get it back this Tuesday or Wednesday. They painting my chin spoiler the same color as the car, which im pretty excited about to be honest, always wanted to do that just never had the time. Heres the parts list as the car sits:

New front bumper skin
New front bumper support
New set of corner lights
New bumper slider brackets
New driver fender
New headlight bracket

Theyre also blending the new paint into the driver door, so all the moldings and inner panels are pulled off the car. Car looks so different right now, cant wait to get it back!

So i got the car back on Friday, and im finally gettin around to postin pics, lol. So leave some comments, they buffed the whole car and made the 22 yr-old paint pop like new! I absolutely fell back in love with this car. heres pics:

how did you do get the exhaust done, is it just straght pipe all the way back?

I would go ahead and use the insurance money for one peice headlights and do a 92-93 front bumper conversion. It looks a lot better then the 90-91. I did my old 91 and it went great. Clean car though.

Crap. Didn’t see u got the car back. Guess I’m a day late and a dollar short. Lol.
