New to auto mechanics. First Car.

Hey guys, Im new to g2ic, love the website btw. I bought my first car 2 weeks ago which is a 1991 integra gs. Bought it with a blown engine and got my buddy of mine to replace it with a low mileage b20b. It runs great and im really starting to get into working on cars. I just find really amazing how it all works and hope to eventually work on my own car and add my own parts.

Anyways, any advice would help on where to start? I’ve been reading as much as I can online about every part. I learned the basics on how an engine works, tranny, drive train, etc… I’ve only replaced my radiator which I am very proud of :excite:. what else are easy things to replace and what are some good sites to read up on about how parts work? Thanks

Welcome to the site, but where the pics at?? lol
Anyways, there are tons of info on here that will show you how things work and how to fix stuff, and another good site is www.team-integra.net.
You can also look up on all parts you want to know about as well on google.

Welcome to G2! I’m in a similar boat, not new around here but very new to working on cars. I’ve had my '91 LS for two years now and have been getting into working on it. So many plans, so little money haha.

Anywho, enjoy your stay!

Thanks man, yeah im definitely a “noobie”. So much stuff to take in. and yeah i feel you man, i have so much stuff i want to add. the list goes on for days but im taking it slow and not killing my self over it. I want to be able to install the parts myself thats why i am asking for extra info. Good luck, how much have you learned so far? what have you replaced yourself?

i’ll get to it. yeah sac is awesome, kind of hot right now though.

Yup,was down there last week, and it was in the hundreds. And don’t trip about posting your car, there are people with POSs,but everyone starts somewhere.

Best way to learn is hands on. Be cautious, but not afraid. Hit up the local wreckers to pull some parts. Great place to start learning

Oh and welcome to the site. You couldn’t have asked for a better one

thanks, yeah im thinking of going to a pick n pull this weekend to see whats up. what would be some generally basic parts to get out? Im thinking an intake because im going to need one anyone for a ref, seems a little complicated though, also dont have jackstands or jack.

well that a hard question you should post pics of your car up so we can see it to help you

here it is. these 18’s look crazy on this car

yup, posted it below

dam 18’s UM I say springs an rear mud flaps to start an small rims some time soon lol

yeah definetly, looking for some black 16s, dont know what kind yet. and some skunk2 lowering springs. where can i get some good mud flaps? So i’m thinking of replacing my intake for a stock 1, any articles i could read up about?

sure you can fine some info some were on intakes what kind do you have as the pic cut off your intake? mud flaps well I have some for sale in my for sale thread or email me at greazemunkey73@yahoo.com

I’m not sure, where on the intake can i find what kind it is? Its not obd0 for sure otherwires I would of had it reff’ed. I think its obd2, not sure tho.

i like the rims. i vote drop it and keep em! but thats just my personal style. i have 17s on mine and really like the look, but i am about to drop it to finish the look a little better. Always remember that its your car man, do what you want to it. Don’t let people change your personality! but at the same time enjoy the insane amount of information you have available to you on the site! welcome and enjoy. ive been a member for since around 2001 sometime. I took an 8 year hiatus lol but i’m back and starting to get the blood flowing again, its hard coming back so many years later, everything is totally different now. Good luck with your teg buddy.

Take a pic of the intake an what motor do you have in there?
