New Turbo, Down Pipe and Manifold

yeah I understand where your comin from “Compton,” the only thing Im having done on my car is the having the manifold made, because of the warranty and the price was pretty cheap.

The only reason I have the spray is to purge it on the intercooler, and to help spool the turbo.

I plan on keepin an LS trans, but the only problem is a guy who is running a similar set-up to mine is ripping th gears right out of the tranny. He has had them rebuilt, carbon coated, and the dual syncros and he still only get maybe 20 passes total.

then do a hydro swap, i have heard they last better than the cables and parts are more widely available

it doesnt matter what trans you have, you’re gonna have problems… i have a friend that was making over 600hp and blew his trans apart on the dyno on a 4th gear pull…

what are you doing about wastegate(s) placement?

its not in the pics put the wastegate comes out the side, at the top by the collector. I will post other pics soon

Here’s a kinda random question, what timing belt do you plan on using? Just curious.

Toda

nice!

so whats up with this setup? anything?

HAHA … slow and steady … HAHA. I had a job change, moved to indiana, and now I am actually changing jobs again and moving to Fort Wayne.

The car is currently stripped and I am getting it painted.

I have a bunch more pics on my camera, I will post them soon.

Good To See…

That you are still around man. All is good here. The turbo finally had shaft play after about 25,000 miles of FUN.

I will soon get her rebuilt and go at it all again with my new set up. B16 Vtec Head on a Built B20Z Block.

The B20z Block got a wrist pin knock now so she has been sitting for some time now. I miss her dearly.

Be safe and keep it all going.

good to see you are still around. everything is going to plan except the speed of things. It will be finished before long. The next step is paint (black) then put it back together.

Nice, glad to see that manifod going in a car. I’ve drooled over it a few times.

Is that a gt4088r? Are you keeping a 81mm bore and if you are do youthink that would be enough to boost up thatturbo without having too much lag?

Yes it is a GT4088R, the bore is slightly bigger (81.5 mm). The lag shouldn’t be too bad, I have a 100 shot of nitrous too.

good to see this project is still under way, This has got to be one of the badest manifolds ive seen to date:up:

crazzzzy set up,is it track only or street too? im making 400 with my car right now n its fast for me.cant imagine what you car will do.G/L on everything

thanks guys for the comments.

I think it be more of a track car then a street car because of the spool.

although it will have headlights, tail lights, and turn signals

what rpm do you think it will at full boost with your setup with out the shot? I am going to run a similar set up with ls/vtec and since I am running close to stock bore I cant decide over a gt35r or gt4088r due to much lag and I would have to try to keep the rpm close to 8000 just to stay in boost on the drag strip with the gt4088 (I think. Not sure thats why im asking.) The reason I want to get the gt40 is because I know I am going to want more power later and I want to be ready and not having to buy another turbo, just turn up the boost and go.

I want to start with 500-550HP (which is cool for the gt35r). Eventually I want to go for 700 and I know the gt35r wont go 700HP. So it all depends on the gt40’s lag.

i would think it would spool around 6K or so. I’ll rev the snot out of the motor (9K or maybe 10K), so I’m not to worried about the spooling.

If your going to keep it a street car, I would stick the GT35R for spool purposes. You could always add some spray.
