I guess there are just different interests and values on the site. Its Voila, not Wala. Thats the difference.
True, true. Again, not saying they aren’t worth the price, they are a nice piece. Just doesn’t fit in my budget (which I’ve already overspent on tons of OEM bits and pieces) or seem even necessary. Btw, the modified G3 GSR pulley is the same setup that Dan is running, so this is by no means a ghetto type setup (wasn’t quite sure if that’s what you were implying or not).
Damn, I feel stupid for my “wala” comment, that’s an obvious one even for someone as illiterate as me! I should probably read a book occasionally. Or maybe not have a couple “La Fin du Monde” ales before posting!
i am partial to fluidampr myself.
Colin, I wasn’t implying anything other than what I said. There are different interests and values on this forum. I don’t know why redintegra introduced dampers to the thread but it interested me so thats why I followed up.
prob a stupid question but how man lmas are in a vtec head?
1 per vtec lobe
Eight
because colin had asked g2guru a question about the ctr pulley. so i just wanted to show some options available.
g2guru, sorry to be be off topic, you said you would never knife egde a crank and i was wondering why seeing as i was considering i was thinking about this. thank you for advice in advance.
iirc it disturbs the harmonics of the rotating assy.
so in other words it will cause excessive wear on the main bearings causing premature failure?
Correct. ^^^^
i have also been told by engine builders that the gains are very minimal for the cost and the effect on the bearings.
Gonna bump this back up as I’ve got some rather loud ticking as of late. I thought it was a valve adjustment but someone mentioned the LMAs to me and after reading through this thread, maybe that could be the issue.
How much of a pain in the butt is it to do this? I’ve really never had the engine apart more then to replace the VC gasket but I’m fairly confident in my abilities. I’ve got the tools and I’m willing to learn.
Valve cover needs to be removed, timing belt slipped off the cams, cams removed, and rockers and rocker rails removed. Then you can get to the LMAs.
:werd:. it’s not too bad, just be mindful of the small parts (vtec dowels and locator pins) as you’re removing things. dont lose nothing.
Cool.
Thanks guys!

They’re all the same. Remember your head is the same casting as a b16 and type r.
thanks again
just wanted to clear it up
i know the b17 is the oddball or black sheep as some like to call it
