I just put my turbo stuff on and now 0 compression across the bored. I’m assuming i washed the rings. do I just put oil in and crank it, or is there a speical way to do it?
no compression. You might have a bigger problem. Put a tablespoon or so of oil down each cylinder. What have you done to get “no compression” . Is it just low like 50 psi or is it like 0. Need more info to help you out. Do you have the right compression gauge adapter. Make sure the gauge is tight because the air will leak out real easy. Give us some specs on what your running and what you have change since the last time that it did have compression

there zero comp. in each cylinder, I put some oil in each cylinder and now i’m going to pull the valve cover to if something there happened. I was reading over 150psi like a month ago, and the car ran great until I put all my turbo stuff on. I was ready yo fire the motor up I turned the key and it sounded like it didn’t have comp. So I checked it and nothing. This is just stressing me out, I feel like my hair going to fall out.
take the oil cap off the valve cover. crank the motor. at the same time, look inside the oil fill hole. make sure the cams are spinning. if they arent, obviously u have a broken timing belt which would explain 0 compression results.
I’m not stupid the timing belt is fine. I changed it out 2 months ago. anyway I figured it out, and i’m now boosted. Boost is fucking crack, I got it done a hour ago and I already want more.
nice, glad to hear that! What ended up being the problem? Have fun boosting! How much boost are you running anyways? 7 or 10 Im guessing.
was your compression gauge missing the check valve?
It was a stupid mistake that I should have checked in the first place, I was freaking out and overlooked it. I running 10 psi on my base map. I can only rip 1st and 2nd until i’m tuned. But my tuner is giving me a 2.5 bar map (for $20) and I will be running 15psi. The turbo is a gm-8 .70 compressor .60 exhuast. It makes 2psi at about 3-3.5k that a 4k it shoots up to 10. pics soon.
:bored:
^ ^ ya i know, but i don’t care cause now i have boost.
you’re on a stock internals motor, right? Just wondering, because with 15psi I think you’ll need an almost perfect tune to avoid damage to the engine. That sounds like a fun street turbo as well! have fun
sooo… what was the problem?
I’m a little worried about blowing my car up, but I trust my tuner. the same turbo kit was on his friends crx w/ an b8a1. 100% stock, and he was running 20psi and ran a 11.63 on slicks.
So… what was the problem? :dozing:
ok fine…you draged it out of me. As it just so happens when I turned the car off right before I boosted it the intake cam jumped 7 teeth on the cam gear. I did the timming belt in the car almost 4 months ago, I drove to seattle (2hr drive) and back 3 times and have done countless rippers since then. But the timing belt decideds to jump teeth right before I do some major modifications to it. I counldn’t belive it.
hmm. so it was the timing belt, huh?
