[QUOTE=smokeintegra;1972570]Honestly, is there a reason you are keeping that black box? you’ve already gone this far, just get a catch can and ditch the black box. there’s a $.10 plug they sell at autozone that fits that hole where the black box would be. and the fittings for the catch can from the back of the block can be bought from acura. I don’t have the part numbers but pretty sure I can get them if interested.
honestly i wasnt aware that you could just re-route it like that. i would love to do that seeing as the black box is $50 and i can get a catch can for $35 with the lines already on it. do u have any kind of diagram on how exactly i would need to run the lines? any kind of help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. and if u cant, some part numbers too. Thank you.
nvm i read the threat from ht. i think i understand it. doesnt seem to complicated. just if u could get parts numbers for me so i can order it from honda.
there’s a fitting to the black box it doesn’t show that is on the back of the block also( the smaller fitting to the top of the black box) that needs to be blocked off with a simple bolt. part numbers:
I used the same washers from the block and did not buy new ones because I felt it wasn’t needed.
34.3mm freeze plug is what your going to need for the black box hole. I used high temp RTV and hammered it in place. you can pick that up from any autoparts store.
what about the plug that was designed for the purpose of blocking that off? where can i get one of those. i think it said something about it being removable or whatever, just incase i ever decide to go back to stock for some reason.
is it necessary to get both of those nipple plugs? can i just run one of them seeing as how they both go to the catch can and then just run the other side to the intake as the vaccum source?
you can run just one side. you really should read up a little on others setups as far as pcv goes on having it the way you want to go. I would think that it might start spitting oil in your intake depending on the power your making.Remember if you are using a vacuum source, you need to tap in the intake BEFORE the turbo, NOT the intake manifold. that’s why most people use the catch can setup on forced induction cars to vent excess pressure, so in most cases venting to the atmosphere using a breather filter is best.
as for the plug for the back of the block, Z10eng.com makes one for $30 plus shipping. a waste of money IMO if a freeze plug does the same thing. nobody’s gonna see it anyway.
Z10:
expandable freeze plugs enlarge as you tighten them down and are easy to remove: look to spend less than $5 for one usually.
regular freeze plug: look to spend under $1 for one.
you can do a search for motormite expansion plugs and dorman freeze plugs. type this in google “Motormite Exp Plg Stl Cup 34.3mm Dormn”. that should help you.
ok thanks for the help. im not really ever going to go crazy on the power, the car will more than likely never see over 400. but again that might change considering i do have to go with aftermarket pistons now. damn eagle rods. but idk i guess ill see what happens.
well some things changed (im selling the car) and i am not going boost. still have everything to do so, but im not going to. just rebuilding the motor and throwin a full exhaust on it with an intake and possible some bigger injectors. but nevertheless i have the shortblock together and putting the oil pan and head on today.
