not seeing any boost

recently install my turbo , the problem im having is that im not seeing any boost.

its goes into vacuum fine, around 20 in-hg, i heard the turbo spooling up fine, but it doesn’t get into boost (psi).

all my vacuum line and IC piping are tight and fine.

how do i check to see if my wastegate or BOV is staying open?

i took the wastegate apart and everything seem fine, diaphram is good, spring is good, dont see any damages.

wastegate vacuum line is hook up to the turbo compressor housing…

help please, thanks.

you will hear the BOV if it is open all the time. The turbo will spool, but the BOV will release all the pressure. You could try tightening the BOV screw.

check for leaks in general on the charge pipes. If the gauge is hooked up to the manifold then of course it will read what the IM sees. If you have a loose 4 feet before the manifold then it won’t read any pressure lost in that spot.

BOV is a good thing to check, a lot of single diaphram BOVs like to suck in air during vac (like a 2nd gen mitsu). I’m sure it’s something simple.

I’m really digging this one up, but i’m having the same problem. Did you ever figure this out?

thanks, Steve

just a quick question. Are you guys revving the car at a standstill or are you driving the car? You will only see boost under load(while driving the car).

I was driving…but I found my problem…shitty downpipe gasket. It was letting the internal wastegate hole leak. Works great now!

haha i run mine with a bs downpipe gasket and it builds boost at like 5k and only 3 psi

man this brings back memories. lol me and my brother were tryin to figure out wut was wrong , same situation. We tried everything we could think of, probly almost 2months of nothin. One day one of our friends was just walkin by the car, and tells us hey ur coupling is ripped. Yea 2months of no boost tryin to figure what was wrong and ten mins of swappin out another cheap coupling and now is pulls harder than ever. sorta lol.

and gets better gas mileage again. lol
