OBD0 distributor with OBD1 ECU?

Is it possible to use an OBD0 distributor with an OBD1 ECU? I know it would throw a CEL, but would the car start?

I’m asking cause I did and OBD0 to OBD1 conversion and now the car won’t start, just wondering if I could try my old OBD0 distributor on it to see if the problem is the OBD1 distributor I have on there or if the problem is with the chipped ECU.

That would rule out a possibility.

Thanks!

Forget this question, problem solved!

what was the prob? were you able to run the obd0 §§§§§ with the obd1 conversion

no u would not be able to run an obd0 §§§§§ with an obd1 ecu. probably ur ign output was wired wrong if it didn’t crank over at all.

Problem was with the wiring. The conversion harness I bought for the distributor had 2 inversed wires. I was ruling out that possibility from the start since It was a harness that I bought commercially so I was assuming it was ok. When I finally did check the wiring, I quickly found out the prob.

ah yes the 2 white wires. common mistake and not easily avoidable. if u look u can tell which wire is the large white that is for the icm. it’s often mixed up with the cypg wire. lol, looks like in ur case the pro’s couldn’t get it right. mind saying who u got the conversion kit from? i’d like to know so i won’t ever buy from them

No need to disclose the company I bought it from as it’s a human mistake and the employee who made the harness was fired shortly after due to too many errors. I had a chat with the owner and he even offered a discount on future business.

And it wasn’t the two white wires… Don’t remember the colors but it simply was a wiring mistake.
